Not really. Sadly as exploitable and two faced this "law" is its presence alone keeps extremism in check. Since its active, whenever someone supposedly commits blasphemy there is at least a sense of order and extremists can still take the lawful way instead of resorting to barbarism and taking "revenge" into their own hands.

People should learn to live by the law of the land. Blasphemy is a crime in Pakistan.

Even as liberal I don't agree with abolishing it, freedom of speech is important but it needs to be practiced carefully. If it were abolished it would only promote mob lynchings as the state wouldn't prosecute anyone.

There does however need to be strict punishment for those tossing false allegations and others (10 years in jail sounds nice).

I agree with you if the law was practiced but as the law has no choice But to adhere to mob rule that's why I want it abolished and mob as whole should be punished if lynching is practiced

This is what the long term goal should be obviously. That people are tolerant of each and other and aren't out to kill each other for what someone says unfortunately that isn't possible with the mindset of our qaum currently.

How does this law do that,it only gives the radical nutcases a free hand to "lynch" people whenever they like,it happened many times before to mostly innocent people?

Why would they leave? No offense but nobody give you additional rights to declare who should stay and who should leave. Every Pakistani including minorities have a right to decide and debate for the future of Pakistan in a civilized manner.

People saying if Blasphemy law is abolished then people will start lynching. There are such no laws in Turkey, Malaysia, Bangladesh how many lynchings have been there so far? Since 1990, 60 odd have people have died after this law came into existence. There were no lynchings prior to this law.

Different Societies and different histories apply to Malaysia and Turkey. Just please remove Bangladesh from the list
(Search Bangladesh Blogger Killings). Removing Blasphemy laws as @T-123456 said would spark nation wide protests with over 80% of the population participating. Personally I don't see a reason to remove it I only think improvements to the law are needed. i.e The court has to follow all legal proceedings cutting no corners and if the law is used to settle a personal score then the accuser should also be Blasphemy as s/he is misusing Islam.
