In July, the state enterprise «Malyshev Plant» was visited by the representative delegation from the republic of Pakistan. Foreign partners are ready for new joint projects.

The purpose of the guests' visit is to familiarize with the production facilities of the company, to see the progress tests of the tank «Oplot». The delegation was impressed by the active work of the plant, the line of industrial assembling of tanks, and the capabilities of our combat vehicle.

- Representatives of the Republic of Pakistan are members of the intergovernmental commission on military-technical cooperation between Ukraine and Pakistan. During the meeting the existing projects on which «Malyshev Plant» and Pakistan are already operating were discussed. First of all, this is the preparation for the tender tests of the tank «Oplot» and the supply of power points, - says deputy director of commercial sales of SE «Malyshev Plant» Maxim Konovalov. - Now we are entering a new stage of cooperation. In particular, it is about further development and expansion of cooperation on the manufacture of power points for Pakistan. In addition, we are actively discussing the prospect of major overhaul and modernization of the T-80 tank, as well as the delivery of «Oplot» tanks to the republic of Pakistan, the implementation of which will be the determining factor of the successful operation of our enterprise for years to come.

According to Maxim Konovalov, Pakistan is a permanent and reliable partner with whom our company has been cooperating for more than two decades. There is a high probability that in the near future the plant will begin to implement projects that are being actively discussed.

I think Oplot-P will be best for Al-Haider Project , while we can get 1500HP engine from Ukraine for Ak2 .. hopefully we get around 200 Oplot-P's to replace old T-59's .

Interestingly, HIT has stopped upgrading Type 59's into Al-Zarrar, with the last (504th) being modernized in 2014.

Than its very likely they are planning to buy Oplot-P to replace those T-59 and the Upgraded Al-Zarrar will go to FC .

Good to know things are moving ahead...... I have a different take on this Oplot-P will only come for 1500HP engine , its a "sweet candy" for engine deal....... But this candy also do one more thing and that is Up-gradation of T-80UDs to OP-P standers and will bring numbers to 400+ enough for one battle division ...............
For T-59 and other older Ts replacement we will go for Al-Haider program and we may wait for AK-2 for AZ replacement , AZ can stay in service for 10 years at max enough time for AK-2 ,,,,, But IF there is a delay in AH or AH program is 54+T(heavy) tank , then we may buy more OP-P or other tank like T-90 (news was out Pak may buy 400+ of them).

We need lot more OPLOT to replace our T-59 even after getting at least 600 T-59 and T-69 upgraded to Al Zarrar standard we still have around 1200 Tanks to replace and to do that we need at least 800 Tanks of two types. They could be OLOT P and T-90 MS or OPLOT P or some other Tank

Mate would be much better if our delegation is there to convince the Ukrainian that you pathetic fools can no longer be trusted with complete system orders. Better give us the TOT help us establish the manufacturing facilities and take our money. A deal could be worked out to ensure that critical components that are to be imported will face no delays... As far as I know, Thailand canceled any further orders.

T-90 are not coming .. Oplot-P are better than T-90 anyway plus AK-1 are also in production lines , we need to buy a significant amount of Oplot to get Ukrainian 1500HP engine . it will be AK or the project Al-Haider which will replace the bulk of T-59.

FC will take Type 59/69 fitted with 100mm gun.

Didn't Al-Zarrar Upgrade provide with same 100MM gun ?

Army delegation was in Russia recently and have checked T-90 and Pak Army is considering it

.
Exact details not revealed yet. Probably in the same range as Oplot-M, i.e., 51 tons.

The weight class, max speed, and range are VERY important because they determine the types of environments where they will be able to function. They also determine what kind of war maneuvers they can participate in.
