The Malaysian government—and not that of the Philippines—will get first dibs on the probe conducted by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on the incident in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

MILF chief negotiator Mohagher Iqbal said the existing protocol calls for documents to first pass through Malaysia, which is the third-party facilitator in the peace talks between the secessionist group and the Philippine government.

“There is a protocol, we are still talking. [With regard to] exchange of documents, [these have] to pass through the facilitator. That’s our procedure,” Iqbal told reporters in a chance interview before the start of the Senate Committee on Public Order hearing on the deadly clash.

The MILF investigation is about 90 to 95 percent complete, Iqbal earlier told the panel chaired by Senator Grace Poe.

Launched by elements of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF), the Mamasapano, Maguindanao raid centered on the capture of Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli Bin Hir and his Filipino understudy, Basit Usman.

About 44 members of SAF ended up dead, allegedly slain by MILF and suspected Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters.

Iqbal: Malaysia gets probe results first

The Malaysian government, not the Philippines, will have the first crack at the result of the Mamasapano probe being conducted by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) once it is completed.

This was revealed by MILF chief peace negotiator Mohagher Iqbal citing existing protocol, Malaysia being the third party facilitator in the peace talks between the secessionist group and the Philippine government (GPH).

“There is a protocol, we are still talking…normally the procedure with documents, the exchange of documents, it has to pass through the facilitator. That’s our procedure,” Iqbal told reporters in a chance interview before the start of the Senate Committee on Public Order hearing on the Mamasapano tragedy that martyred 44 Special Action Force commandos who were on a mission to arrest Malaysian terrorist bomb maker Zulkifli Bin Hir alias Marwan and his Filipino understudy Basit Usman.

The MILF probe is about 90 to 95 percent complete, Iqbal told the panel chaired by Senator Grace Poe.

Iqbal said he would not ask for an executive session anymore in revealing the result of the MILF probe. “There is no need for me to ask for an executive session. I’ve disclosed it already in open session.”

The SAF commandos were engaged by joint forces of the MILF and fighters of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) as they executed Oplan Exodus to get Marwan amid a frustrating web of miscommunication and lack of coordination that is just clearly coming to light.

The incident has practically derailed the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) in both Houses of Congress – the fruit of the GPH-MILF negotiations that spanned 17 years that is expected to bring peace in Mindanao.

One original proposal for the Bangsamoro proposal includes half of the Palawan islands which is already suspicious and with Malaysia being a third party facilitator...

Let's just say this has something to do with oil, am I am pretty sure Malaysia is still aware of Operation Merdeka and may have done a discreet version of it against the Philippines.

Well the MILF spokesperson said that they will share it to the Malaysian government first rather than the PH government. This action would lead to more mistrust about the peace deal.

The best possibility is hoping that the Philippine Government collude with Malaysia in pressuring MILF to lay down their arms as a prerequisite for a peace talk and peace agreement. You can't expect lasting peace if the brigands are still allowed to keep their arms.

My view. My 2 cents.

Well one problem is that, back in 1996 when the old Ramos administration made a peace deal with MNLF, several members broke away from that group and form the MILF and when the current Aquino administration made a peace deal with the MILF, several men from the group broke away from them and formed the BIFF. Many speculate that if a future administration makes a deal with the BIFF, another group of men would break up and form *insert group name acronym here* and thus another cycle.

I doubt so. If southern Philipines gain independent, they might claim Eastern Sabah under historical ground.

Yes in way but the this organization was break way from the orginal MNLF the moro national liberation front which was train and funded by the malaysians back then to stop the sabah claims of our sulu countrymen that was pass on to the Philippine government so in order to stop the Philippines they help train and fund and armed the insurgency and its bitting them now some of the same people are not fighting in sabah so the malaysians change their strategy and help the peace process by helping broker the peace deal between the MILF and the government but they more supportive of malaysia and vis versa so people think that Malaysians are kinda influencing the whole thing.

For me some are true the Malaysians were playing around the conflicts to stop the Philippines from claim sabah thats the whole point but after the incidents in sabah it help them realized that supporting my misguided moro countrymen is bad idea and it will just be a problem for them so bridging the peace in way assured if successeful will stop the illegal crossings of filipino migrants feeing the war and stop the support of claims in sabah by influencing MILF that will led the new autonomos region that will replace arm but the MNLF is still strong so they fighting the agreement saying that they are the real orginal group and they solo representatives of the muslims in mindanao so making agreements with milf is illegal for them and other breakway group from the MILF the so called bangsamoro islamic freedom figthers the BIFF wants to wage war aganist the government but failing to since they piss off both the government and the MILF just follow the news

Well its not that true the most politicos are doing that like the makabayan bloc aka Maoist commies inside government but since its ok to speak and as long you are not rebel with a gun its ok to be militan student or congressman or a militan protesters but even with this anti filipino forces supported by outside and internal antifilipino forces the Philippines is been doing well in terms of economy and stability but still improvinng the military is like 3rd important thing i have no problems with that but the problem is the political red tape by the maoist in congress and since majority of our legislative are stupid people its hard to make things happen thank god we still have some good people in government.
