Malaysia to hire 1.5 million Bangladeshis

Did you know that the Malaysians stopped allowing BD men into their country a while back as
we were deemed too handsome by their women?

LOL, nice joke dude.
On a serious note there is lot of resentment brewing under the surface against Bangladeshi immigrant workers thanks to a huge number of illegals here. This fact is further exaggerated by the perceived notion that these workers will be used by UMNO to cast votes in favor of its candidates, the scandal of Project IC is still fresh in Malaysian minds.
Malaysians are generally nice & decent people but are deeply suspicious of what they consider foreign and displays xenophobia too often directed against darker skinned ones. Furthermore the perceived notion of Malaysian livelihood under threat will yield some truly nasty results. Malaysia is interested in importing cheaper workforce which can work on its plantations, which most Malaysians refuse to work at. But the impeding backlash will be severe in case of any economic down turn.

One day Malaysian will pay the price :coffee:
Dumb policy, instead of educate (brainwash) and invest in our own people (to do the work ourselves) and move to the next level, everyone only focus on short term gain.
Last time we hired Indonesian to do the low level jobs. Now Indonesia become richer and have more opportunities at home, we have to choose Bangladesh.

I have to disagree with your assertion here, but before I do that I agree that Malaysian government needs to seriously work on human capital development and must train its workforce. Unfortunately too many Malaysians are stuck in a cycle of lower pays and high debts, with economic mismanagement things seems to take a turn for the worse.
The jobs these workers are doing are low paying, high risk jobs that very few Malaysians wish to do in the first place. Malaysia isn't exactly epitome of an openness and financial interests dictate Malaysian policies. The problem arises when these workers start to move in fields or jobs outside construction and plantation. Malaysian newspaper regularly posts stories such as Foreigners taking over this job/ industry etc etc. Indonesia was never poorer than Malaysia but because of the size and population of that country, things are not as easy for them. Not to mention inept and corrupt governments don't help the cause.

.
Switzerland- import our watches.
India - use our it service
Sweden-import our furniture

seriously guys, stop thinking about emmigration all the time. Try to export product others than immigrants.
BD is already a leading garment exporter.

The guy in your avatar is a descendant of a Bangladeshi...
Malaysia is a big country with a lot of resources. To fully utilize the gifted resources and to graduate to uppper income country you need huge manpower. No other country but Bangladesh and Indonesia can provide you such huge manpower while not disturbing your conservative religious and cultural values of Malaysia.

Bangladeshi guys that i know date white girls over here in the USA. What's up with that eh? lol !

I have one friend who came from Dhaka --- a Financial Analyst --- he married a beautiful White American lady.

But yea, Bangladeshis that I know are eager to intermix , lol.

@iajdani , you guys need to share with us your 'mojo' secret. LOL.

Bangladeshis dont usually resort to polygamy. Thats probably make them attractive to Muslim women in East Asia.

Just my guess...
man, thats just a fake thread in a forum, malayasia govt never banned bangladeshis for being too hot..
show me a news from a news source please. It works like this, somebody(probably a bangladeshi) opens a yahoo question why bangladeshis are most desirable husbands, and the positive replies are all from bangladeshis.. ha ha.

LOL!

lolz.. malayasia, indonesia, thai all have hot curries.. :)

Hahaha, its great to really exchange smiles with everyone here.

But on a serious note tho, buddy.

Infrastructure spending in Malaysia has resulted in relatively good infrastructure in the country that has facilitated the movement of goods through the highways and aiports. And I mentioned this to @macnurv in another thread, but the main strategy for Malaysia to remain solvent and competitive is to address the brain drain issue --- which is a reality for them. Policies need to be in place to foster the deepening of this cluster.

And in tandem with the long term goal of reversing the brain drain, the country needs to import skilled labor as a short to medium term measure to help alleviate the shortage of human capital that is needed to deepen the cluster and at the same time, enable Malaysia to move up the value chain in the production and electronic industry.

This is a win win scenario for Malaysia, a win win scenario for Bangladeshis who want to find better opportunity abroad.

LOL, no not of Bangladeshi but an Indian (sub-continent) origin to be more exact. But don't let his ancestors fool you he considers himself a Malay first and foremost.

Again you're grossly misinformed here. The people in question are not Bangladeshi professionals but the labour workers, and there are very real chances of backlash against Bangladeshi workers here. The term Bangla is already used as a negative connotation. Don't believe me just go through any social media or better, news portal and read the comments after Rohingya boat crisis.

True, that is not the case.

The biggest cause for brain drain is lack of opportunities, and in Malaysia again merit taking secondary importance to race. Malaysia is interested in importing unskilled labour from Bangladesh for its booming construction industry and Palm oil plantations. They had an agreement with the Bangladesh government but apparently were only able to provide 7,000 of them. Further because of terrible working conditions at Palm oil plantations, most of Bangladeshi workers call its quits.
