The Malay is basically a borrow language and just because a couple of words sound similar to Sanskrit which is not even Indian to begin with does not make it Indian. the Indian brings the Hindu/Buddhist culture to Indonesia which is well recieved within the first Kutai kingdom in Kalimantan, then there spans two Major Empire in Indonesia which is called Majapahit and Srivijaya. mind you, that we are not only trading with Chola Empire, but also with Han Dynasty and Middle Eastern / Persia. Samudra Pasai kingdom in Aceh also has STRONG relationship with Ottoman Empire.

Indonesia was, and always been so Diverse in Culture, so it's not wise to say that only Indians have the Influence in Nusantara.

by the way, the first humans in Nusantara were called Proto-Melayu and Deutro-Melayu. do note that these are just the scientist's call for the indigenous, not the name for the actual Melayu people. examples of these Proto melayu are Dayak, Toraja, Batak, Nias, etc

Singapore and Malaysia get their independence in a silver platter, with all the necessary institutions and educated elite. While Thailand is never got colonized. Compare that to Indonesia who need to fight for years and must shoulder part of Dutch debt. A long struggle against foreign power usually left a long lasting if not permanent impact on nation's psyche.

Yes I did say that. As I explained earlier on, I was referring nor thinking about India but the so-called Chola Empire in Indonesia.

IMO the so-called Chola Empire was a make-believe in these region. Why so few Indian nor trace of the descendant of the Indian Chola Empire in Indonesia?

Chola doesn't exist in Indonesia. they're only introducing Indian Hinduism and that's all.

Chola empire would have had only some contact between inter-marriage/settlers etc, most was through trade, a short period of warfare/invasion and cultural exchanges.

Again the period before was more of a cultural exchange regarding use of sanskrit loanwords, Indian philosophical system and belief structures.

Indonesians and malays are at their base level of different migrations/sources of Austronesian peoples all mixed up....with various markers here and there from Chinese and Indian traders/settlers etc.
