What's new

Malaysia considering new multirole fighter jets, including the LCA-Tejas

New avionics means new testing and that means like longgggg delays. That also certainly means that the current jet with Israeli content can’t be accepted.

All countries want their air shows to be filled with planes. Doesn’t guarantee an order.

The testing can happen while the aircraft is being built. It requires only 6 months. The producers need to know the configuration 18 months prior to delivery, whereas first delivery typically happens 3 years after a contract is signed.

For example, Mk1A avionics were finalised only a few months ago. While production tender is already out, and is expected to begin sometime this year. First squadron will be delivered in 2021.

Otoh, check this out:

They haven't decided on the radar yet for JF-17 Block 3, but delivery is expected in 2021, whereas production will begin at the end of this year.

Not to mention, ADA/HAL had already prepared for multiple radar types previously, because the radar tender which Israel won included Americans, Swedes and French also.

Not to mention, Indian radar, EW suite and CIT will become available by the time the Malaysians expect delivery.

Yes all of this can happen, but considering the marvellous pace of development and production already shown HAL, I highly doubt if they will be able to pull it off. India was able to live with it because Tejas is their domestic project, but why would a foreign buyer give anyone that much leeway?

Anything can look good on paper. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

The development of Tejas was fine. From a fighter configured prototype, they took 3 years to get to IOC and 2 more years to open up the flight envelop completely.

And for Mk1A, the development is already complete. Now it only needs certification. Which will be even faster if you change the Israeli avionics the second time. Even we bought Rafale F3R 2 years before being fully certified, so waiting for an already developed aircraft is not a big deal.

.
All the Israeli avionics can be replaced with Indian and European avionics.

And it's the Malaysians who invited us.
They invited u to strike a better deal with us, they are smart n we wont hold that against them. No foriegn airforce will ever buy a failed project like tejas. U can beat ur drums all u like in India with that foolish propoganda but the moment u step outside the fairy land the real world greets u and by the way indian men do look like fairies if u dont mind my saying so.

We are all for you lot to sell the JF-17 to Malaysia. You forget about our military cooperation with Malaysia.

Fantasizing about looking like us doesnt make u like us, fairy.

 Same people, same gene pool.
As i said, ur desperation to be like us is pathetic. A large segment of Pakistan has no linkage with ur ganga gene pool. The only people who look like u in pakistan are the mohajirs in Karachi.

The development for Mk1A is already complete but IAF made changes and wants stuff that has thrown Mk1A production to another 3 to 4 years! What certification are you talking about? Post links before you make claims you are well know for posting BS.

Sorry exactly who have you sold tejas to after 40 years in development? Even your airforce doesnt want it.

.
Malaysia should DEFINITELY BUY TEJAS but only if it wants a Truck Mounted Fighter jet. :omghaha:
