No it’s not complicated at all. You Malaysian Muslims are bigots, oppressors and inhumane people. All bigots come up with excuses and try to obfuscate the issue. You are not the first one and we have heard it all before millions of time, so spare the patronising.

On December 30, after a 2 year legal battle, Malaysia's high court struck down a government ban on Christians using the word "Allah" to describe God in the Malay language section of their newspapers. The ruling also applied to other applications as well. This includes Malay translations of the Bible -10,000 of which were recently siezed by the government for also using the word "Allah" for God.

The reaction from the Muslim majority was anger and as of Monday, January 11th, nine churches have been burned wholly or partially. Christians make up only around 9% of the Malaysian population. Muslims make up just over 60% with the remainder being mostly Buddhist.

Even in the rare case that Christians get justice from the Islamist courts of Malaysia, the real justice is provide to Christians by Malaysian Muslims on the streets.

Malaysia is a typical case where they started with Hindus, Chinese etc then moved to Christians and now Shias are getting it. A lot like Pakistan or any other place where bigotry is on the rise.

actually, they may be accelerating these sects culling so as to fulfil a hadees which says Islam will be divided into 73 sects and a true sect will only survive. rest of the sects(72) and it's followers will be thrown into hell fire. so, it is up to Shias and Ahmedi Muslims to fight hard group together against Sunnis who obviously will want to establish themselves as the true Islam . one option is to leave Islam or move to Sunni sect to save your life. although I believe, sunnis will be also split into hanafi vs shafi etc at a later stage.

The test of any "best" solution is to stand its own ground. If you are confident this is the best religion, no matter how strongly someone preaches other religions, it should not change a person. By banning open preaching, you are curtailing the diversity of human thought. Why so averse to someone preaching other religions?

It doesn't work that way, you assume everyone involved is an intellectual, but most people are poor and simple minded; Shias tend to avoid scholarly debate and play on emotions in order to 'convert'. A cowardly strategy indeed, if you are confident this is the best religion you'd come to the debate.

Christians have been living by the sword long before the Prophet SAW was even born, so touche'.
And Ahmedis are as muslims as the church of the giant spaghetti monster is a part of christianity.

Shias often pray in our mosques in Dubai, and I have many shia friends (they respectful kind). Did I ever implicitly imply that it was my own opinion of Shias being a separate religion?

So technically all the posters cheer leading this decision would be completely in agreement with the GOI if it brought into power a law which forbids Muslims from proselytizing? And before someone tries to throw a sectarian spanner here by stating that Malaysia has not prohibited proselytizing for all Muslims but is rather targeting a specific sect- we could simply ban both the Sunni and Shia sects from proselytizing- in fact even in the letter of the law we can mention the sect explicitly while avoiding any mention of Islam itself. You know to ensure that order is maintained- after all only Allah knows who's right and who's wrong wrt Sunni-Shia schism (and we shouldn't cross him by picking the wrong side). We Kaffirs should remain neutral and not invite any further wrath from the Lord- which can be achieved by putting a stop to any further propagation of either sect.

They do not allow. In some places they do not even allow to name the children by the names of the 3 Caliphs.
