Malala propaganda ploy

Many in the western media, with their pungent hypocrisy and double standard and agenda driven mindset have been using this Malala story as a propaganda tool.

Let's examine and expose their tactics. First they hype up the figure of Malala and hail her as a hero, which she may well be, however they do not mention anything about the other people that were injured along with her. Secondly, they are using her story to extrapolate the idea of women's oppression in Pakistan, what better way to convey to an international audience that oppression of women is an integral part of Pakistani society by portraying the Malala story, a young girl fighting against extremism and right to education all by her self. Thirdly, if the media truly cared for the lives of innocent life in Pakistan then why is it they show tremendous concern for Malala but less concern for the victims of drone strikes, or the victims in Gaza by the Israelis, or the victims in Afghanistan by NATO attacks; the concern arose when it was the TTP who conducted the attack on innocence and the media realize they get make a pro-feminist story of this attack, the whole young girl education theme.

Most importantly the media is using this story in a sense to justify drone strikes in Pakistan suggesting drone strikes are against Taliban the same perpetrators who attacked Malala. This is exactly how the media likes to start up conflict, they did the same thing with Kony 2012 scam; saying Kony is a Ugandan war lord kidnapping children making them soldiers, and other propaganda noise.


I also want to make clear Malala is a genuine victim however media is using her story as a propaganda ploy and I'm afraid she and her family are naive and may have played into it.

as far as media propaganda is concern, I think there were some objectives attached to it...you dont get air time if you dont pay, free campaign is definitely funded by somewhere, it cannot be out of sheer love of Malala...

on the other hand, propaganda against Malala by rightest parties is also very disgusting...

Yeah, I've lived here long before all this happened buddy. Don't support what this administration is doing nor how media is hyping this up.

I know the story, read my post and actually understand the points I am making, how her story is being used an a propaganda ploy by the media. This is a fake concern of the media to push their agenda.

I think what the OP wants to establish is that the hype created on media was unjustified and propagated on some agenda !

Firstly, Malala is a hero to those who support the right of ALL children to an education.

Secondly, oppression of women is indeed an integral part of Pakistani society. Pretending otherwise simply means that the problem will not be solved. After all, the first step in rectifying an issue is recognizing that it exists.

Thirdly, the media does cover all the stories that you mention adequately, It is your own bias that desires more or less coverage on issues, but that is not the media's fault.

Well its obvious. The girl was shot, but not in the head and the way this issue got media attention gave it all away that it was designed to achieve certain goals.

In a positive development in Pakistan, a fourteen year old girl was shot in the head but NOT for Blasphemy.

Malala Yousafzai, a ninth grade student from Mingora — (Editor’s note: There was some controversy as to whether she was a young girl or a grown man, but that controversy was settled when it was pointed out that adults in Pakistan usually dont have the courage to oppose the taliban) — who was an outspoken proponent for girls’ education rights, was shot in the head. Initial reports indicated that she was shot for being a Shia and the incident was largely ignored as a routine occurrence.

The next few reports from Mingora were contradictory. It was reported that she was shot for being an Ahmadi, and it was greeted with increasingly voiceferous media coverage expressing outrage that there were still Ahmadis left in Pakistan. A retired army general who also served as a diplomat, famous for his op-ed columns, claimed that he had personally traveled to the region, met the girl, spoke to local authorities, and reported that she was shot for blasphemy. It later emerged that like most op-ed columns in Pakistan, the op-ed columnist was making things up and had only gone as far as his bathroom.

Then it emerged that she was shot in the head for her vociferous support for women’s education in Pakistan. This was greeted by a huge sigh of relief by many who had gathered for a candle light vigil at the Lahore Gymkhana Club. A woman who declined to be named said

It came as a huge relief that she was shot in the head for supporting education. If she had been shot for Blasphemy we could not have gathered to protest na? At least it is now safe to express solidarity and outrage. I called up all my friends and said that it is safe to protest. You will be seeing more of us in twitter, TV, newspaper columns and marches. It is a huge disgrace that we had to be cooped up at home and not express ourselves because the shootings so far have been for Blasphemy. This shooting is a welcome change for all of us and is just what Pakistan was craving for.

Senator Rehman Malik who initially claimed that he would shoot any 14 year old girl who wanted to study with his own hands, recanted his statement and said that the perpetrators would be dealt with an iron hand. He also said that he could not rule out a foreign hand in the shooting. President Asif Ali Zardari in a speech recalled the sacrifices made by his wife Benazir Bhutto for women’s education in Pakistan in 1969, when she left to study at Radcliffe College to educate herself while being a woman. Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry when pressed for comments, directed the government to write to Swiss authorities for reopening corruption cases against Zardari. The rising politician Imran Khan said that drone attacks were responsible for girls wanting to study in Pakistan and the taliban reaction was a natural resistance for newfangled western ideas like education. Imran’s statement was met with dismay by some, but common pakistanis refused believe news reports or Imran Khan and were convinced that it was a Mossad conspiracy perpetrated by the CIA.

General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani was unavailable for comment as he had rushed to the US to demand drone technology and more air-to-air missiles to educate Pakistani girls.

I agree with the post to some extent. I agree that the narrative created around the tragedy was that of oppression of women and strike in Waziristan. This is how the story was built in the media.

Ignore what western minded Pakistanis will tell you. every society has its issues. Each and every one of them. And the societies are not always able to resolve those problems. But to magnify each and every issue in Pakistan and put it in for public criticism is to see and show Pakistan in a bad light. This is what I dont agree with at all.

Many of these stories are planted in the media by 'officials' or 'unidentified sources' and then our chattering classes take it from there and with no objective criticism, regurgitate media's stupidities, disregarding the shallowness and lack of understanding from a western perspective.

Not everything that emanates from western media is credible. We must be objective in understanding at putting the story in the right perspective.

Malalas dad runs many schools.and an.NGO... anyways. To hell.with her... hundreds of malalas died in gaza, who gave a sh!t? No one... many people are dying in terrorist activities in Pakistan, no one cares.. but malala.. oh my God.. give her a nobel prize.. for her father and the western media are champions of propaganda..
They can give Obama a Nobel peace prize... why not give it to aerial sharon and malala and nawaz shareed etc etc..

Can you please post any example of such "propaganda against" Malala...??? I didn't come across anything that was "against" Malala...!!!


Firstly, Malala is a hero to those who support the right of ALL children to an education.

Secondly, oppression of women is indeed an integral part of Pakistani society.
I support right of girls to education bcoz my Prophet did so ,,, but she's NOT my hero.
Not the Pakistan I am from. & I am from a small city & a village representative of majority of Pakistanis. I have relatives who live in Swat, ur notion does not stand any ground there too. Many friends from Sooba-Sarhad & Balochistan would disagree with u too. But one of my cousins who lives in Defence Lahore & is a burger-bachaa, would agree with u. Bcoz he NEVER experienced any other place in Pakistan than his cozy Defence life-style & learns about rest of Pakistan from watching CNN/Fox etc. :)

I have seen much MORE violence on women in West. Much more common rape & household torture. I've seen moms cooking their newborns in microwave ovens. Boyfriend dismembering girlfriend bcoz she wanted to break up & in another case bcoz his new gf asked him to kill previous gf ... Where guy dismembered mom's body & dumped in a suitcase in Lake Ontario. Where media tell what ladies should like to appease men, & thus they walk around half naked so some man would like their racks & legs & would propose them. Ladies in West r willful slaves to men's desires. I have seen ladies struggling so hard to make their bf happy wishing a life-long relationship; drooling over them in subways & buses trying to prove their love to the guy; BUT sad that most of them get dumped despite their utmost efforts.

I've seen ppl date thru many girls to find the best match; tests their talking, dressing, sexing abilities. Finally settle down with one ONLY to divorce later in 40-60% of cases. & this divorce-rate does not take into account the "DUMPING-rate" in non-marital relationships. :)

In Pakistan I live in, Ladies are elevated to much respectful stature. Ppl give up their seats for any lady, does NOT have to be a really old lady. In West no-one gives up their seat for ladies, unless lady is extremely old & weak.

You should get out more..which means you never left your Model Town house which you are making false claims of being in "connect" with the masses.
the rest of your post reflects a very narrow mentality. The atrocities you mention ALSO occur in Pakistan.. and are sometimes more in number.

In the west people would really not care whether the person next to you is woman or man..and simply another passenger.. and not give up their seats in an attempt to take a peek at her assets.
Whereas men regularly occupy female seats in our nation..
please.. get out of your little house and look around your own city , you will find there are many more "cases" of Burger Bachas and "Mailas" who are engaging in all the pre-martial activities(due to lack of it??) you complain of .

Typical defensive "doodh se Dhula" cheap mentality.
