Soviet never came toe to toe with US in economy, industries, manufacturings and trade, China is still not a military power, the poll is about the overall economy.

While China is rising, European and US are tied to the hip and there relationship extends far beyond the philosophical first sign of weakness or monetary gains. They will stand firmly against those who threaten there Judo-Christian bond, only reason the West opposed USSR was because of them being communist and considered Godless to keep the conversation short. But in the past they've always united to face a common enemy jointly.

The only problem I have with Chinese and Arabs you guys look through only the glass half full and from monetary aspect, which is only half the story.

I don't think we are disagreeing that much. I never said China was ahead of the US overall, but I said they have become ahead in a significant amount of key areas.

As far as money printing, I think both you and I know that the USD's place as a reserve currency gives it enormous leverage to print money with abandon despite never being able to balance a budget. In comparison, China is the world's largest creditor nation and the US is the world's largest debtor nation. That is a huge fundamental difference when we are discussing the financial health of both countries. Economic gravity always shifts towards those who are creditors.

I said China is ahead in quantum communications, which is true. As far as quantum computing, I think the field is young and it is unclear which country is ahead at this time. As far as super computers, I am not sure if you know this but because of the tech war, China has stopped reporting on the efficacies of its super computers as to not alarm the US of its progress. You can call it sneaky, but it is what it is. The word is though that China is ahead and is working on 3 exascale computers at an earlier timeline than the US. BTW 312 of the top 500 systems are now Chinese. Just 10 years ago, China's presence on that list was negligible. This just points to how exponentially fast China's rise is.

quantum computing the the older field and the sub-field that started this field. quantum communication came afterwards once the concept of "entaglement" through quantum computing was known to be viable and manipulated. US is miles ahead in quantum computing because we think this is where the world is heading. and these splits in field have been present with countries before too .

An example is during the vietnam war. U.S put its bet on stealth as the future of warfare and russia put its bet on agility. thast why today U.S is ahead in stealth while russia creates planes that have incredible weight/thrust ratio and are much agile

Much of china's technology back bone was built during the forced technology transfer. and that still remains an issue between US/Europe and china today.

China prospered so much because U.S brought her in WTO. in 2000s hoping the prosperity will change them from socialism to capitalism. didnt work with chinese. then we shipped jobs and increased trade hoping they would change but didnt work. My thinking is biden will again put them to the table and hash out some sort of a deal. or they will make some issue in the south china sea and end up going to war because i dont see any possible reason why U.S needs to bring bombers, carrieres marines etc etc

Yet still China stands, strong as it ever was and growing stronger still. Let's see if America can withstand even a fraction of what China went through.

I say "let's see" purely as a courtesy. Anyone with a brain (like most of the respondents in the OP's poll) know full well the US has no hope. Cling to your trivial leads in a few legacy technologies, all that will be gone in a decade.
