Major Malik Munawar Khan Awan Sitara E Jurat " KING OF RAJOURI "

The reason is Higher altitude advantage rather than mountain warfare tactics. The same which a hand full of Indian soldiers enjoy in Siachen for decades now, even though reinforcing them from Indian side is far more difficult compared to Pakistani side of the glacier. :-)UOTE]

Why do you guy's always live under the impression that only you can fight ?? Why do you think if a dier situation demands, Indian civilians won't fight ??? :-)

Lolz its not as simple as u put it. Higher altitude helps on a local area, as a whole its tactics that give pak army and the tribals superiority. Siachen can be taken easily by pak army, the problem is with cost, it doesnt give us much advantage.

47 there was limited air power employed yet the Pakistani side went nowhere beyond its initial advances. Indians were able to amass troops in Srinagar and successfully check the irregulars who got busy in infighting and looting. It was a total lack of discipline beyond the OP’s subject’s successes.

Those are indian rumors. They overran azad kashmir and were on offensive. Ever wondered why india went to UN? They knew they will loose kashmir. Stopping that war was the biggest mistake ever. Ive personally met many veterans of that war.

Multiple historians on both sides would disagree. A veteran of the 47 war would by minimum age even ten years ago be 79 years.. not sure whom or when you met them.

Even Qudrat ullah Shahab who himself hailed from the area , part and participle of Pakistani bureaucracy during that(and consequently Ayub Khan’s era) and was passionate about the movement and cause admits a loss due to infighting.

Your timeline is spot on. My grandfather died in 94, one of the first to form up with the AKRF, by 2000 his cousins and one brother who also fought had all passed to the next world as well.
Infighting was part of the problem, but as was the role of mobile and powerful artillery, lack of communications and overstretched lines. I could go on but the thread is about a legendary man.

Why are mods sleeping when this member is spreading wrong information citing “ higher altitude advantage “ against mountain warfare ?

I don’t want to engage and waste time with this idiot but the fact is Indian army was sleeping when infiltration inside IOK took place. IA was caught unprepared in 1965 as well as 1999 in IOK.
PA Forces taking part in Ops Gibraltar had local resources like scouts as well as personnel trained in mountain warfare.

Our own zameendaar fought and was a ghazi, he died 5 yrs ago. Alot of ppl from dir went to kashmir jihad. I have first hand accounts. The infighting thing is just an excuse. Army clearly stopped the mujahideen. Our zameendaar told me that pak army told us that war is over n we won so go back, it was actually UN ceasefire. Even Jinnah disnt want the assault to stop. As usual ghaddars within us have always destroyed us, so was the case in 48.
War is not fought by bureaucrats but warriors on ground. There are 2 questions abt those rumors, 1. Why quaid ordered not to stop 2. Y india ran to UN?

Operation Venus, was planned in December 1948 for an assault in South Kashmir using a heavy tank brigade. The aim of the operation has been described in conflicting ways, some said that it was to gain area in Rajauri-Poonch-Naushera, and that the PA wasn't in a mood to stop fighting. Others said it was to force India into calling for ceasefire, which it did following the preliminary bombardment at Beri Pattan. Nonetheless I will have to say that PA officer corps was distraught with Liaqat Ali Khan and his timidity to accept cease-fire, hence Akbar Khan and other commanders were arrested in the infamous Rawalpindi Conspiracy. Civil-Military divide started from this point.
