Prime Minister’s Commerce Advisor Abdul Razak Dawood came bearing good news on Twitter.
“I have received information that some exporters have obtained large orders for face masks from the United States, Canada, and Europe. This is a major breakthrough and I congratulate them for this achievement,” he tweeted.

He went on to encourage other exporters to join in and tap into new segments so that Pakistan’s export sector can also adapt to the changing global needs.

“It is part of our strategy to diversify into new segments and this has been achieved by the exporters through their own efforts. I’m sharing this information with others to encourage them to seek more orders from different parts of the world,” he stated.

On the other hand, he talked about agricultural exports, stating that the government is striving hard to make their way into the Middle East, Africa, and North America through rice markets.

Although, the rice export to Mexico has been stagnant, after the recent delegation’s visit Abdul Razak Dawood is hopeful about entering the Mexican rice market.

“All members of the Rice Exports Association Pakistan (REAP) should prepare themselves for this opportunity so that they could get their orders approved in the Mexican market.”

Dawood introduced smart goals to the objective by declaring that the total volume of rice, the largest agro-export commodity in the country’s export basket, would be increased from $2 billion to $5 billion in the next 5 years.

“The current milestone is to take exports to the highest-ever level,” he informed the Associated Press of Pakistan. The adviser the traditional markets are being reclaimed and new markets are being accessed.

N95 or regular surgical grade masks? Most masks we get in the US advertised as N95 are actually cheap chinese knockoffs labeled as KN95

I would say excellent news but then remind me, do the people of this country have masks for themselves? For two months (feburary and march). I searched for masks for my old age parents. For two months, all pharmcies said “no masks”. Ultimately I had to turn to someone who was importing them from china.

khair, I hope they are of n-95 and kn-95 quality. Not the cheap knock off being sold these days.

Pakistan is becoming stronger and stronger in exporting millions of medical supplies, masks, to West.

I have seen a lot of Pakistan Companies are now exporting various medical supplies to various countries now.

Yes now in Lahore, all kinds of masks, sanitizers, N95s are readily available in Lahore, and Pakistan shops and markets.

so after Covid 19 is over, our exports will again plummet? All this is good but our exports need to be have better sustainability than just taking advantage of a rare but limited period crisis. For starters, rather than exporting raw materials, perhaps exporting finished products along with increasing agriculture related exports.

Can report myself that masks are easily available in both Lahore and Islamabad, though if you want to find them at good price... you will have to spend some time to search. In Lahore, i myself got 4 N95 masks with air valves a month ago and didn't take much time to find them.

Actually to be honest one cant blame the government for those who start hoarding of everything from Sugar to Masks, Sanitizers etc. The months that you mentioned were indeed troubling, i had bought it earlier for my mother and wife but had to struggle to find one for my little girl but was able too. Anyhow masks are now available. I recently bought few from Daraz.
Pakistani exports are already dwindling. If we dont take advantage of any opportunity presented, someone else will.

Didn't know every regular statement should be backed up with a source but anyway, here you go

I hope you'd apply the same rule for all the trolls out there

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/07/health/masks-banned-n95-coronavirus.html

https://www.kiro7.com/news/trending...g-mit-researchers/AMJZYIA4YNA7XOS7LBY6JUPWGE/

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/health-canada-issues-recall-of-some-kn95-masks-made-in-china-1.5568734

.
If it can lead to trolling or i see intent is to troll, derail the discussion then yes Its better to have a source....
News clippings you have posted are actually about Manufacturers unable to meet the Quality standard that is KN 95.

KN95 is an approved standard and an OEM failing to manufacture it's product is one thing and claiming that the entire standard is botched up is another. Your statement gave impression that KN 95 standard itself is flawed or to be blamed or all the masks coming out with KN 95 are flawed. Which is truly not the case....
