Made-in-India stealth fighter project set to take off in 2022

technology wise, your right, only a European country or European consortium could provide technologies Korea lacks, especially Engine technology and datalink technology (which all nations are reluctant to share)

Datalink technology I believe will use Korean or American since majority of their fighters are American and it needs interoperability between Korean and American (+Nato) members if Korean war happen again.

Indonesia through its electronics SOE company, PT LEN Industry, is also developing its own datalink since we operate many kind of defense equipment from many countries that needs to be connected.

Then there really doesn’t seem to be anything the Koreans can get from a European company that they can’t get from an American Conpany, except perhaps some munitions like the Meteor. But considering how far Korea has gone with everything else in the KFX program , they probably have a Comparable system in development as we speak.

Korean is clever and capable. Their engine technology is actually above both Turkey and India, but they still use F 414 engine to power KF21/IFX. Their jet engine is more toward powering their UCAV program, it is what I see as the best steps, we cannot directly dream to have our indigenous engine in our fighter without doing it in step by step process.

China has been developing jet engine technology since decades ago and it has already become second biggest economy in the world since several years ago, yet its engine development just went mature recently

Yes. Approval has been given to build it. First on paper and later a real one.

India is late to the stealth fighter game by at least 40 years.

so LCA is late in the game by 33 years

but Stealth only 40?..

how is that?

. .
Because you can't count. Tejas is not late by 33 years. Late by a decade? Maybe.
Lols 3 or 4 decades... don't lie

Baby baby yes mama eating sugar no mama...

Open your mouth...

Hahaha

. .
India can buy Chinese WS-10 engine.:p:

Useless to them. Indians are stuck on "light" this and "medium" that aircraft because they cannot design or afford heavyweight fighters that the WS-10 powers.

so late by a decade?. only?.

cool!...

so how does it better than a Mirage 2000 that entered service in the late 1970s?

The engine is not an issue, India previously hopes that it can produce F 414 engine from GE, and yes it is not easy to make GE and US approve such plan, but as far as I know India is now just accepting that they only can buy F414 engine.

If India keep with its ambitious plan and keep finding any Western companies wanting to give them TOT on engine and make them produce the engine in India it will surely make the program get delayed again, maybe what happen with Tejas program will likely happen again in AMCA program

Yes. Tejas story is being repeated for AMCA. F414 will only be used for Tejas. For AMCA it will be a new engine. The current short listed ones are Russian Item 30 or Rolls Royce.
Dont talk nonsense here, India has ordered around 100 F 414 engine for their Tejas MK2 program.

Those engines are for Tejas MK1A. Tejas MK2 is not an approved program yet.

.
Mk2 has been approved.

No. Tejas MK2 has not been approved yet. Only Tejas MK1A has been approved. There is debate currently on which programs should be pursued - TEDBF or Tejas MK2 or AMCA MK1 (non Stealth)
Amca Mk1 comes with F414 engine. Atleast 2 squadrons. After that Mk2 would come with an JV engine either with Snecma or RR.

Those are proposals only. Nothing has been approved yet. Everything depends on how MRFA deal comes out and what ToT will India get as part of that deal.

40 years is the current number. It would increase by another 20-40 years when all is done. AMCA program has not been approved yet but we are already late by 40 years.

We will build what we are capable of. What is wrong in that?
