'Maalik' banned across Pakistan

.
Lol.....They touched a raw nerve I think, I'm sure we will here a moral justification of "keeping society safe from evil influences".

.
Sources in the federal censor board said the film was banned due to a plethora of public complaints regarding portrayal of Pakistanis in general and country’s politicians in particular.
So showing the truth is banned?

. . .
The authorities can ban Pakistanis from viewing a movie without even specifying the reasons? And Pakistanis are willing to put up with this authoritarianism, rather than engage in civil disobedience?

Why do you sound so incredulous, such things happen all around the world as a norm rather than exception. True freedom of expression exists in just certain pockets in N. America and Western Europe.

.
Indians made similar movies but i dont remember there govt banning it?

And whats wrong in wrong depictions of a political party how different is this from written articles or books?

Zia lives on from Baboon league govt

You put up with this cr-p in India, too?

The issue isn't just freedom of expression. It's that it can be done on a whim.

It's sad, censorship exist in India too - alternative opinion is often suppressed in the name of national security. Most of it is legit like restricting releases of terrorist propaganda, glorifying separatism or insurgencies but politicians do take advantage and often contain negative stories about them.

Increasingly though, the powers that be are taking a different route due to social media making censorship null and void - like in west they now prefer to buy direct interest in media houses.
