Maalik (2016) - Movie Review

Banned across Pakistan by the political leadership, most likely for a reason that they apparently thought about after it was banned, for a myriad of reasons. Luckily sanity prevailed and the High Court overturned the decision 6 months later. The film still made 6CR in Pakistan, which was more than Bahubali 2 made in Pakistan this year. The film is available officially from Ashir Azeem on youtube, but the official version has only 30K views while the copycats have 300K, and also show up higher in search results !

It turns out that Na Maloom Afraad 2 has also been banned in Punjab, in a manner very similar to Maalik. I do not understand how films run for 5wks, collect 20CRs, and then suddenly get banned because "objections were raised from different quarters". Looks like the High Court's verdict in the case of Maalik did not set any precedent for provincial govts to stop the knee jerk reactions if they don't like something.
