RADUGA MACHINE DESIGN BUREAU M. I. KALININ MACHINE BUILDING PLANT.The KH-55 Granat (AS-15 Nato code name "Kent") was fielded in the 1990s. The X-55SM modification provided for increased range with the installation of expendable conformal external fuel tanks, giving it an estimated range of 1,860 miles.

The Kh-55 has been in Russian service since 1984 as a nuclear-armed air-launched cruise missile. The missile carries a 200 kiloton nuclear warhead. The Kh-55 is the Soviet counterpart to American BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missile. The Kh-55 cruise missiles are deployed on Russian strategic bombers - the Tu-95 Bear and Tu-160 Blackjack.

Each Tu-95 Bear bomber can carry up to six Kh-55 missiles, located on catapult type launching drum installation in the bomb compartment of the aircraft. In addition to the internal rotary launcher, the Bear can carry ten more Kh-55s on external pylons. The supersonic Tu-160 Blackjack can carry twelve Kh-55 long range cruise missiles inside the two loading compartments of the bomb bay.

Iran was said to have purchased intermediate-range cruise missiles that could fitted with a nuclear warhead, according to an investigation in Ukraine. A leading Ukraine parliamentarian and politicians said a police investigation has determined that Iran bought missiles with a range of up to 3,000 kilometers from Kiev. The pro-government parliamentarian, Grigory Omelchenko, identified the cruise missiles as the Kh-55.

Omelchenko said Iran procured six Kh-55 air-to-ground cruise missiles from Ukraine between 1999 and 2001. He said another six Kh-55s were sold to China. The Kh-55 ? termed by NATO the AS-15 ? was said to be highly accurate and could contain a nuclear warhead. Omelchenko, a former officer of Ukraine's intelligence service, said authorities also prevented an attempt to export 14 Kh-55 missiles.

SS-N-26 YAKHONT/AKA Brahmos

Russia is offering the NPO MASH Yakhont-M land attack super-sonic cruise missile with its KONDOR-E radar targeting satellite for export. The Yakhont flies at tree top level to avoid radar detection. The missile flies at speeds in excess of Mach 2. In an extended range mission, the Yakhont climbs to 46,000 feet before diving to below 50 feet as it closes to within 22 miles of its target. Terminal attack speed is reported to be .4 miles per second. The Yakhont can be air launched using the ALFA system, sea-launched from its container/canister or fired from a shore based mobile launcher called BASTION. Yahont can also be fired from a standard torpedo tube from conventional submarines.

The Antiship 3M-54E missile is designed to be fired either from standardized vertical launch tubes of surface ships or through torpedo tubes of submarines. The 3M-54E antiship missile is made up of a launch stage, a winged low-flying subsonic cruise stage, and a low-flying supersonic kill vehicle that attacks the target in a final terminal phase. Another version of the system, 3M-54E1, is intended for installation on board small-displacement ships or submarines. This version is made up of a launch stage and a winged subsonic cruise stage. The 3M-14E winged missile is designed to engage ground targets. It is made up of a launch stage and a low-flying subsonic winged cruise stage. The missile?s onboard flight control system has a barometric altimeter, which provides for a covert flight as the missile maintains flight altitude precisely and follows terrain features, as well as a satellite navigation system which ensures high missile cueing accuracy. India has reportedly purchased the 3M54 missile from Russia and is currently refitting five of the ten 877EKM (KILO) class submarines to fire the KLUB missile. India's tenth KILO sub, the Sindhushastra, was launched in July of 2000 at St. Petersburg. China is also reported to be interested in purchasing the KLUB to arm the PLA Navy force of KILO submarines.

SS-N-26 YAKHONT/AKA Brahmos
[post=5365]Quoted post[/post]

SS-N-26 Yankhot is not BrahMos.

BrahMos is designated as PJ-10.

Fitted on one of the Kashin and INS Tabar(Krivak-III/Talwar).

Rest KH-59 (all versions) are serving with the IAF.

The club is part of INS Talwar and INS Trishul (Krivak-III/Talwar).

Also 5 out of 10 Kilo Class subs of IN.

Kh-35 is widely used on Delhi's,Brahmaputra's,Kora's, Home Made Tarantul's etc.

It is known that Sunburn cruise missile was made, due to that Soviets couldn't no more compete with Americans in terms of navy. They couldn't not hold of American build up on navy, due to that their economy was not strong enough. So they chose an alternative to it, and made successful cruise missiles to defend their coasts.

The Sunburn cruise missile is a beast while remaining undetected, it is known that in Iraq war. Iraqis only had some of the Russian made cruise missiles, which they fired by fighter aircrafts. They say that American ship detected the aircraft while it was flying from the airspace, it detected it all the way when it was coming towards the ship, but then suddenly the aircraft went to its base for no reason. After being hit they found out that it had already fired the cruise missile, so this story can tell you how dangerous cruise missiles can act.

Not to mention this Sunburn cruise missile is way capable than the one Iraqis used. I believe this is a lesson to learn. Pakistan must compete in cruise missile technology to remain a strong naval fighting force to deter with Indian navy build up.

If the cruise missile technology can advance, the aircraft carriers of India will be sitting duck, if get any close to in our range.
