Shouldn't Government of the day issue statements to distance them from such outfits ??

Everybody is speaking. That is how a free country works. Before 1947, saying Vande Mataram was not allowed. The job of the Government is to govern. As long as someone is speaking, they should not do anything. But I guess I know the real issue. It's the Hindu Mahasabha. I agree they should have named it the Secular or etc Mahasabha and people would not mind.

'standing' for hindu values doesn't make you. But when you behave as if you are the only custodian of values that everyone should obey, else you are 'not hindu' then you become thekedar.
