What's new

Lockheed Martin's 'New' F-16 Block 70 Fighting Falcon Has F-22 and F-35 DNA

Pakistan is not having grip on Block 52 then how come, Block 70 is expected to arrive.
Very less likely going to happen but in USA and Pakistan chemistry up and down are normally severe.

And when u get sanctions how will u deal with that? And you will get sanctions for sure

Y will we get sanctions? And even if we get sanction wat will we do with the current fleet of F16s and helicopters??? My point is that we already depend on American weapons n cant get rid of it, so having 2 squadrons wont increase that dependency too much and would give us the cheapest counter for rafales. Do u have any alternate to this???

If trump wins re election and we play our cards well, we can have a chance to buy a few block 70s. First we have to wait for india to reject F21 which they most probably will, and then we can pitch it even to congress that we require block 70 to keep balance with indian rafales. I think trump would definitely want to sell us block 70s.

If USA really wanted to balance, they won't offer us F -21... F 16 blk 70 is last thing i expect from US to Pakistan... just because of one meeting.. nothing going to change....

F-16 is old... We got better things at hand.. That radar however can be of use.

Induction of these birds would be a significant boost in our capabilities. I agree that adding a squadron or two will not dramatically add to any risks that we already may be having.

In the meanwhile JF-17 Block-III induction and subsequent MLU of the Thunder fleet will be our mainstay.

Till the fruition of the FGFA - Project Azm program, any set back to the Viper fleet due to sanctions can be countered with emergency induction of J-10Cs. And this possibility and line of action is true even today, without any Block-70/72 induction.

If push comes to shove, in case of total sanctions on F-16 related spares and munitions ... we would at-least have the advanced avionics & radar to reverse engineer and improve our knowledge base.

Bro. I agree f16 is a great aircraft.
If we have them in our fleet now and there are issues with sanction why add to the number?
Sanction can be applied for any number of reasons. Anyone that buys anything from russia will incur american sanction....as an example

Respectfully, there is nothing the F-21 is offering that isn't already on the Block 70/72.

Yeah, there is the Conformal Aerial Refueling Tank System (CARTS) by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (India) which is responsible for the design and probe integration and is already an option for the Block 52 & Block 60's since 2010.

Other than that, its the same jet with the same thrust being offered by both GE & P&W.

Just to update you the V style upgrade will come to Pakistan, even if not from US. The Turks are working a upgrade for a similar upgrade program to be marketed commercially. Pakistan's existing fleet was upgraded in Turkey with US components.

They have revealed a AESA radar similer to SABR and they also have a new avionics package in the pipeline for F-16 upgrades. They have the technology for the avionics as Turkish companies were the suppliers for F-35 cockpit MFDs as well as several other components.

You are not allowed to make changes, even Turks willing. You still need US nod..
