Lloyd Austin: The Pakistani Military Must Target Militant Hideouts in Pakistan

The post was known to Americans and US never apologized for Salala incident.

Let us not take this thread off-topic, but fire originating from very close to the post was the root cause of the US response, and USA did apologize and made amends for the Pakistani losses.

A spokesperson for U.S. defense secretary, John Kirby, said Lloyd Austin called on Bajwa to Target militant hideouts inside Pakistan.

Kirby said the main reason for the war in Afghanistan is the Taliban hideouts inside Pakistan-controlled areas, which must be targeted and destroyed.

"We are mindful that those safe havens are only providing a source of more insecurity and more instability inside Afghanistan. We are not bashful about having that discussion with Pakistani leaders," John Kirby said.

Kirby said the safe havens are a threat not only to Afghanistan but also to Pakistan.

"We are also mindful that Pakistan and the Pakistani people also fall victim to terrorist activities that emanate from that region. So, we all have a shared sense of the importance of closing down those safe havens and not allowing them to be used by the Taliban or other terrorist networks to sow discord," Kirby added.

Earlier, the Afghan president had also accused Pakistan of sending 10,000 fighters to Afghanistan from the Durand Line, fighting alongside the Taliban against Afghan Security Forces.

However, Pakistani officials refused these accusations and considering them groundless.

For years, however, Afghanistan's neighbor Pakistan has been accused of harboring the Taliban and other militant groups on its soil.

But this is the first time that the U.S. directly called on Pakistan to destroy Taliban hideouts inside their soil.

with 2/3 of a stan under talib control why would they need to hide in Pakistan?

stupid general

I started researching and studying about the militant groups in Pakistan about two years ago till now I have found evidence of Kashmiri freedom fighters in Pakistan as well as Baloch ethnic terrorists but not even a single shred of evidence on Haqqani or IEA safe havens in Pakistan.
All this is some stupid blackmailing technique used by these emasculated and inbred Americans.

The Americans are sweating it out. That is for sure.

In the same spirit they refused to act against the terrorist bases of the BLA, BLF (based in Kabul) and TTP and now leave asking Pakistan to attack the IEA.
They've also done a wonderful job in supporting Pakistan by refusing the Vipers, blocking the T-219 Atak engines, kept Pakistan on the FATF list and of course placed Pakistan on a list of nations that has children as soldiers.
Kirby you really do have some nerve.....
No one is listening.
I wish men like Reagan and Nixon come again.

The million dollar question here is what did Gen Bajwa say in response?
If he is smart - he would say “I believe that is a great idea and it is in our interest - however, we first need the tools we lack to do this released to us including the Ah-1Zs and upgrades to the F-16s along with transfer of most MRAPs that you are leaving in Afghanistan which will greatly help in effectively tackling the greater sophistication the militants use. We also need to shut down refugee camps and move them back to Afghanistan to stop them from blending in with civilians and hiding within them. We are still committed as a major non-nato ally regardless of the designation but just need these tools to avoid casualties and backlash that creates more militants if operations take too long”

This is what I am interested in. What did COAS say to Austin? By the way the COAS completely bypassed an elected Government by talking to Austin guy and hence ignored rules and protocols.

Incorrect news. This source is not correct. Watched the briefing and the spokesman didn’t say this, general comment about safe havens along border. There is lots of propaganda coming out of Afghanistan and Amrullah Saleh desk. Their military has no morale. The “commandos” were better than ANA but even they are giving up now.

They should spend their efforts trying to stop the onslaught. They should realize they are 7 days away from starvation if Torkram is closed or even if the capacity is decreased 50 percent. There is no other path for food or oil. They should realize they live and eat under our mercy and shade. Instead of#sanctionpakistan should be #thankyouPakistan.

PA is not targeting TTP, PTM, BLA inside Pak under great Bajwa apart from some random operations. How could PA target someone who is supposed to be US or Afgan's enemies. Not gonna happen

Incorrect. The incident was triggered by fire originating from very close to the post, and USA apologized and made amends for the Pakistani losses.

Incorrect, not an incident but deliberate action, snakes are snakes. US never apologises, that's why Pakistan blocked the logistics for several months. USA not left any stone unturned for alternative, but miserably failed.
