Living On A School Bus On $150K A Year

Alice Everdeen, 31, travels the U.S. in a school bus and earns $150,000 a year as a voice-over artist. She and her boyfriend, Jay, bought and renovated their bus over three years and have been driving across the country since September 2022. It's a career and lifestyle that lets her travel, reduces stress and gives a new sense of freedom. This is an installment of CNBC Make It's Millennial Money series, which profiles people across the globe and details how they earn, spend and save their money.

RVing fulltime is actually a fairly popular lifestyle.
This lifestyle seems extremely beneficial for the people of California and New York since the housing prices are insane in these states.

. . .
US and North America more broadly is such a huge diverse geography and lot of fascinating places to visit...the culture also varies a lot within it that adds it particular charm.

RV and road tripping is definitely the way to go. I have a friend that snowbirds from Connecticut to Florida a lot (with his RV) each year since I first knew him, though lately he has set up in Florida more permanently. He did a trip out to Texas a while ago too...

Living on the road and seeing as much of North America as possible in a lifetime reminds me of this song a bunch heh:

Not just the cost of housing, but being able to work online while travelling over such a huge area with lots of things to see and do has its own charms.

Are you open to living in an RV for some time?

I mean, if it works for them and makes them happy while making a shit ton of money, why not?

Good for them.

@VCheng out of interest, which is/are the state(s) you most want to visit that you havent been to yet?

I would definitely try that, at least for a period of time. I would tow a couple of motorbikes on the back and really take my time going all around.

Oh gosh, that is such a long list, but the Olympic Peninsula for one, the Grand Canyon and the Mighty 5 in Utah are the next targets. And then there is lots in Canada, and then down to Mexico ...... I will probably run out of time by then, but hey, I will surely try. :D

You must absolutely visit the Grand Canyon.

I was lucky to visit it fairly young.... my pa was working in the Phoenix area at the time, we (rest of family) visited him during summer vacation.... and we did a roadtrip of our own up there.

Sedona, Grand Canyon, the watchtower nearby the canyon (forgot the name), Painted desert and we visited the Navajo nation up there too.

One of my fondest memories....the Canyon itself is just so immense, you only realise that when you are there.

Did you go to Toroweap Point? My trips to such places are usually different from the conventional points if i can help it. I have an idea about the Grand Canyon from the Canyonlands NP, plus the bits of Moab and Arches NP already. :D

(I am going to the heart of Navajo country next BTW, over 4500 miles total.)

I was going to say lucky move with using a school bus since they are usually built like tanks to protect kids but they stated that was the main reason all along.

Digital nomadism is a much better lifestyle in my opinion.
