What's new

Like India Bangladesh is also indebted to Pakistan in Billions

It has been around 40 years now and BD has remained unable to pay off this paltry amount and ask Pakistan to not to cry on it. Remember you are at receiving end. If there is something Pakistan has to pay, bring it on. Whois stopping you?

This isnt the debt of 40 years long right? It just grew every year in these 40 years.

Two major areas of disagreement remained between Bangladesh and Pakistan as of mid-1988, and both stemmed from the dislocations resulting from the independence struggle. The first issue concerned the finances of united Pakistan. After the war, Bangladesh claimed that it deserved a share of the US$4 billion worth of preindependence exchange, bank credit, and movable assets protected in West Pakistan during the war. In a 1975 agreement, Bangladesh accepted half of Pakistan's pre-1971 external debt, but asset sharing issues remained unresolved.

Bangladesh - Pakistan

yes it accrued in 40 years!. I don't think Pakistan will move to demand it pretty soon. It is just being added in the annual dossier of State Bank. We are not going to fight over this meager amount.

Pakistan must be feeling ashamed to ask money from these two already beggar countries, Pakistanis ke generations ke sadqe muaaf kia in ko.

In 2010, Pakistan was declared the third largest external debt recipient country in the region, after Sri Lanka and Nepal. According to the figures released by the Finance Ministry report on Debt Policy Statement 2010-11, total public debt was 60.6 per cent of GDP, it was 49.9 per cent at the end of December 2010, which was higher than 39.3 per cent from Bangladesh but lower than Sri Lanka’s 86.7 per cent and India’s 55.9 per cent. However, IMF said Pakistan’s public debt stood at 56.8 per cent and India 71.8 per cent of the GDP. Sri Lanka’s external debt reached 36 per cent of GDP, followed by 35 per cent of Nepal and 33 per cent of Pakistan. Total external debt of India was 15 per cent and China 7 per cent of GDP. External in-debtness of Sri Lanka and Nepal has been $17.97 billion and $4.5 billion. The external debt (ED) of Pakistan reached $57.2 billion, which was 33 per cent of GDP by December 2010. That further rose to $60.6 billion in June 2011, which shows a net increase of $2.8 billion in only 6 months. The domestic debt was Rs6014 billion by June 2011. The external debt of Bangladesh as on December 2010 stands at $24.4 billion or 23 per cent of the GDP. بھارت کی طرح بنگلہ دیش بھی پاکستان کے اربوں روپے کا نادہندہ – ایکسپریسس اردو

for the people who cannot read Urdu:

  1. The debt Bangladesh owes to Pakistan is by the end of the fiscal year 2013-14 has been accrued to 7 billion 95 cror and 76 lac rupees. This includes the loan and commercial papers post 1971. Bangladesh Government is focusing on the punishments of people who helped Pakistan Army during 1971 mutiny but seems heedless towards paying Pakistan the due amount. Currently every Bengali is indebted to Pakistan for a paltry Rs 50.
  2. India has also remained dishonest towards clearing the account of debt towards Pakistan. India owes Pakistan a sum of 5 billion, 86 caror and 68 lac rupees, by the end of fiscal year 2013-14. This includes the gold of 4 billion, 36 caror and 35 lac rupees, rest include pounds, Indian security, Indian currency exchange (Pakistan returned Indian currency to India after printing it's own but shrewd Indian bank didn't compensate it) and the printing charges of currency.
  3. Pakistan reserves the right to go to any International court of justice but for this Pakistan's political leadership will have to show some spine.

I don't know anthing about it... How did BD or India took money from Pakistan???.
