If I ever go to China, or another Asean country I would cook my own food. With what they show in travel programs on tlc, their eating delicacies are beyond werid.
People in Vetnam eat rats. Then people in Philippines eat an egg that has been kept in incubator and picked before hatching do the fetus is fully formed and submerged in vinegar, and eaten as delicacy. Even they crack it open beak and legs on chicken has been formed but their country, their choice.

Vietnamese too (duck egg), and it is one of our delicacy.

Every country has some kind of weird food, however, I believe East Asian people (except Japanese, one of the reason I do not like them and consider them true East Asian) are the most open to any kind of food in the world, what ever they are. We do not eat ants or snails, but we are always willing to try.

The same thing with our openness for religion, culture, ideology etc. Possibly in Vietnam and China, religions are tolerated the most in the world. No one is punished or discriminated for their belief since beginning of our history, except when they want to interfere into politics by using religion as a weapon.

Ant larvae and snails are regional delicacies in my part of the country.
Some of our foods habit are repulsive to other Indians, like eating fermented beans and bamboo shoots, fermented fish etc.
