RAWALPINDI - Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Mujahid Force Centre at Bhimber .

He installed Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar as Colonel Commandant of Mujahid Force.

A large number of serving / retired officers including from Mujahid Force were present at the occasion.

Later while interacting with Officers and soldiers of Mujahid Force, COAS appreciated contributions and sacrifices of Mujahid Force particularly along the Line of Control.

the Mujahid force was raised on the concept of citizen / territorial army to support and supplement regular army during national emergencies. it is the first line of force with its mission. They are the first line support in 1948,1965 and 1971 war.

Good News, getting your ducks in a row. India is losing Kashmir. Gun is never going to be the solution. Even if Pakistan comes up with its entire Army, which they tried earlier, nothing will change. But if Kashmiris hold guns for their freedom, they will again give justification for a prolonged fight for their freedom. This Freedom cycle will continue till either Kashmiris or Indian Government realize they cannot continue.
Nice Lethal Move of Bajwa Doctrine. Salute you Sir.
Developing Stories - Why India Loose Kashmir.
US Backing India to counter China is a flawed US policy. India has neither the political will nor the capacity to contest China militarily. India uses the China card to milk the US and West for support and uses it against Pakistan and smaller countries in the region.
For Washington, the best bet is to improve relations with Pakistan and Afghanistan, as these are the countries that are natural partners to the US. Russia and China are also competitors to each other and not allies, and hence will pose no significant threat to the interests of the United States in the foreseeable future.
the Trump administration seems to have crystalized its relationship with India. The administration’s increased engagement with Pakistan on the issue of Afghanistan might have also come at the expense of Indo-US ties and the ouster of the “India office” from the Pentagon. Pakistan for a peace process in Afghanistan demands his right of Kashmir issue resolution with India to the US.

What is this Colonel Commandent thing ???

@Horus @balixd

The Colonel of the Regiment ( some regiments call him Colonel Commandant ) is an honorary ceremonial position and is an appointment rather than a rank. It is an honour conferred upon a senior officer (active or retired) who has, usually but not necessarily, served with the Regiment in the past.

The appointment ensures a continuing strand in the regiment’s esprit de corps, and it provides a channel of communication (formal and informal) with other elements of the army and with higher command.

The Colonel is kept informed of all happenings within the Regiment to which he has been appointed and, if so requested by one or more of the battalion commanders, will give advice on matters concerning the overall welfare of the regiment and its institutions including ex serviceman.

Its a ceremonial role in the life of the regiment. They do not have an operational role, or the right to issue orders. He is more like a elder of the family in our context. Some regiments have officers of the rank of Brig as Col of the Regts too.

Irrespective of current rank he is addressed as "Colonel".

Does Hur Force also comes under it?

@Zarvan Almost every Regimental Center got a honorary Colonel Commandant, representing the regiment in the GHQ.

Why do they call it Mujahid Force?

It is Mujahid Force Battalion/Regiment. Just like Frontier Force Regiment.

Does Hur Force also comes under it?

No lol. Hur Mujahid Force is a Private Militia owned by Pir Pagaras/PMLN F.

This is Mujahid Battalion, an Army Regiment which was also known as the Semi Activated Army Regiment but now they're fully activated and also known as SAM Regiment.

Is it a national guard?

They were formerly National Guard, but their mandate was turned vast and the only National Guard left is Janbaz Force.

Mujahid Battalion is active infantry now.
Officers in the Mujahid Battalion were selected through MO (Mujahid Officers) Course instead of PMA Long Course or Graduate Course since one's designated unit was already decided as compared to cadets from the Long Course which were assigned random units. MO Course was based on 6 month training at PMA and 6 month training in Mujahid Regimental Center Bhimber AJK along with compulsory Desert Warfare Course at Desert Warfare School, Chourr Cantt.

There were also MTBs (Mujahid Training Battalions), units assigned to train infantry troops. Mujahid Battalion Officers have to undergo through all the mandatory courses and exams just like any other Officer from a random unit. They can also go for Basic or Advanced Commando (SSG) course but cannot become part of it upon completion.

The Hurs used their knowledge of the desert to good effect and helped to blunt the Indian offensive.Fighting alongside Rangers and regular army units (known collectively as the Desert Force)

. .
Is this a civilian militia?
Goddammit I'm surprised people don't know Mujahid Force Regt. Territorial Army like US National Guard. Colonel Commandant is like 'pyoo' of the Regt. Even ZA Bhutto was Armoured Corps Colonel Commandant.
