No Indian worth is salt will write "SRINAGAR, occupied Kashmir, Jan 2 (AFP)". Besides this report has not appeared in the Indian press. The only incident was the new years' eve ruckus in Kolkata. You think our chaps will leave out such a news incident?

The news seems fabricated.

Bull and sword9 with all the respect you guys need to accept the truth. Talking about living in denial! Unbelievably ridiculous!

If you need more let me know. You will get nothing by degrading the Dawn newspaper. :wall:

Oh my god not from you webby!!!

The article that me and Sword attacked was about "India officer kills colleague in Occupied kashmir" which came in Dawn.

When asked abt other sources you are proving it right by posting links abt something which happened '000 miles away in Kolkatta.Which sword has already accepted as happened.

What a ridicolous and cheap attempt by you!!!

SHAME,SHAME!!!

Ok my fault here. I was just pissed at you guys not believing it.

Agence France-Presse is the DAWNs source, they are not bad. Anyways, such signs are the clue for instability in the Indian Forces in the occupied Kashmir.

Also lets wait for the full news. :) I am sure i can come out of other sources since AFP is the source.

Over 100 Indian soldiers committed suicide in 2006

Tuesday, 26 December 2006

ISLAMABAD, Dec 26 (APP): Over 100 Indian soldiers committed suicide or died in fratricidal shootings this year, Greater Kashmir reported on Tuesday.

On Dec 1, Lt Colonel Pankaj Jha, posted with 15 Rashtriya Rifles in Mahore area of Udhampur district, according to officials, committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver. “It was yet another fallout of keeping army engaged in counterinsurgency operations against an unwilling population for longer periods,” said the army sources. In the recent surge in suicides among the Indian army, a new feature was that many of those who committed suicides were officers.

Psychiatrists attribute the increase in the number of suicide cases to low morale, bad service conditions, denial of vacations and leave, unattractive pay and a communication gap with superiors.

Dr Chander Mohan, Head of Psychiatry Department, Government Medical College and Hospital at Jammu in IHK told Greater Kashmir that post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with reactive depression is the main cause of the growing suicides cases in the Indian army in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

“Army personnel deployed in the state are not satisfied with the job because of workload and nature of the job. Inability to cope up with the ever increasing stress and task in the present scenario is taking its toll on the army personnel deployed in the state,” said Dr Mohan.

More soldiers die in suicides than fighting Mujahideen

Jammu, December 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, during the year 2006, more soldiers committed suicides or killed their colleagues in than were killed in gunfights with Kashmiri Mujahideen.

Seventy-two army personnel, including many officers, were killed by Kashmiri Mujahideen but over 100 of them committed suicide or died in the incidents of infighting. On Dec 1, a Lt. colonel, posted with 15 Rashtriya Rifles in Mahore area of Udhampore had committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver.

In the recent surge in suicides among army, a new feature was that many of those who committed suicides were officers; one captain, one major and one lieutenant were among other Indian soldiers who committed suicides. Psychiatrists attribute the increase in the number of suicide cases to low morale, bad service conditions and growing frustration among troops.

A psychiatrist said that generally for Indian Army such people were available for recruitment who were already vulnerable to stress disorders and who didn’t have a very enough motivation to join army.

Everybody believes that soldiers commit suicide. And for that we dont have to rely on some bullshit media source. All our TV channels report it.

The issue in Kolkatta was a breaking news in Aaj tak which i was watching.

If Agence France-Presse is the bullshit source in your opinion. Its good. Now dont say i was talking about DAWN, note again. DAWN has sourced AFP.

Lets wait for a day or two, if it has happened, the news will be released in the Indian media. An officer shooting his subordinate is very serious, and the army/ govt may try to play it down, but such stories have a knack of showing up in the media.

Unless you can disprove, keep on laughing, because that’s all you can do, meanwhile your psychopaths shoot each other out.

It is these kinds of statements that start 'flame-wars', as some1 will reply you in kind and no1 will like it. Then you comment on keeping a degree of respect in debates. Mods i request you to please take note of this statement by tomcat111.
