Lieutenant Colonel in J&K shots himself up

It is these kinds of statements that start 'flame-wars', as some1 will reply you in kind and no1 will like it. Then you comment on keeping a degree of respect in debates. Mods i request you to please take note of this statement by tomcat111.

Instead of whining like a baby, tell us what do you find inflaming?

Lets wait for a day or two, if it has happened, the news will be released in the Indian media. An officer shooting his subordinate is very serious, and the army/ govt may try to play it down, but such stories have a knack of showing up in the media.

Here it is guys.

This is the Pakistani source. Associated Press of Pakistan (APP)

If you guys find an Indian source, let me know! ;)

calling people from my countries army psychopaths.

What would you prefer to call those who frequently turn their weapons on their own soldiers? I think I was quite generous when I called them psychopaths.:coffee:

BTW, you may want to lookup the definition of a 'psychopath' in a dictionary. :read:

More soldiers die in suicides than fighting militants

SHARIQ MAJEED
Jammu, Dec 25: This year more soldiers killed themselves or their colleagues in Jammu and Kashmir than were killed in gunfights with militants.
Seventy-two army personnel, including officers, died in anti-militancy operations but over 100 of them committed suicide or died in fratricidal shootings, prompting the army top brass to suggest measures including sending the spouses of soldiers to live with them in the state.
On Dec 1, Lt Colonel Pankaj Jha, posted with 15 Rashtriya Rifles in Mahore area of Udhampur district, according to officials, committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver. “It was yet another fallout of keeping army engaged in counterinsurgency operations against an unwilling population for longer periods,” said the army sources.
In the recent surge in suicides among army, a new feature was that many of those who committed suicides were officers—Capt Sunit Kohli, Major Sobha Rani and Lt Sushmita Chatterjee are the ones who ended lives this year. In some of these cases, the families of the dead officers accused the army of foul play, a charge denied by the army.
Psychiatrists attribute the increase in the number of suicide cases to low morale, bad service conditions, denial of vacations and leave, unattractive pay, and a communication gap with superiors.
Dr Chander Mohan, Head of Psychiatry Department, Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu told Greater Kashmir that post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with reactive depression is the main cause of the growing suicides cases in the Indian army in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Army personnel deployed in the state are not satisfied with the job because of workload and nature of the job. Inability to cope up with the ever increasing stress and task in the present scenario is taking its toll on the army personnel deployed in the state,” said Dr Mohan.
He said that generally the army recruits the people who are already vulnerable to stress disorders and who don’t have a very strong motivation to join army. “At the time of recruitment there is need of active psychological screening so that people with strong coping mechanism are recruited.”
Spokesperson of Indian Army (16 and 9 corps), Col SD Goswami claimed that only 0.3% of the suicidal cases are because of the operational stress, rest of the cases are because of the domestic problems faced by the army personnel.
“Operational stress due to environment coupled with domestic problems are the main reason for growing suicide cases in Indian army in the state. Indian army is a big force; even if there are a few cases of suicides it should not be treated that entire Indian army is under stress,” Col Goswami added.

It’s the first time, I have SEEN Pakistani media beating Indian media in flashing Indian news. Good job DAWN...

Jawan falls to officer’s bullets

Jammu (PTI): A junior commissioned officer has allegedly shot dead an army jawan on the outskirts of Jammu.

The incident took place on Monday night during a New Year’s party at the camp of 22 Mechanised Infantry in the Ratnuchak area.

Subedar Hari Krishan Panday allegedly opened fire at Om Inder Kumar after the two engaged in a scuffle in the barrack, officials said.

Officers and jawans who rushed to the spot on hearing the gunshot found Kumar lying dead in a pool of blood.

Both Kumar and Panday were from Bihar. Panday has been arrested and a court of inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

This is the first such incident of fragging — soldiers turning the gun on colleagues or superiors or killing themselves — in the new year. There have been 23 such instances in the last year.

This is not about an officer, its about 2 JCOs fighting with each other. Where is the article of a commissioned officer killing his subordinate?

If it had happened then the Indian media would have been "celebrating " it by now.

This was funny. Why would Indian media "celebrate" the show of officer killing his subordinate in the occupied Kashmir?

When i write "celebrate" in quotations you do understand what i meant right.

Indian media would be flashing it all over, live talks, unknown hychology experts giving out treatments etc etc...
