Libyan surface to air Missile Crisis

Hi,

Yesterdays news-----there is a major crisis at hand for the united states, in Libya----.

Seemingly----around 20000 surface to air missiles have been stolen or are un-accounted for after the over throw of the Qaddafi government---.

The cnn news reporter saw thousands of them in shelters one day----and then they were gone----there were pictures of the missile tubes loaded on civilian trucks being driven away-----.

The united statets and the rest of the world had controlled the sale and access of surface to air missiles to the terrorists, successfully for a long time----. With this theft----we have serious problems coming at hand.

Would it not have been better for Qaddafi's forces to actually use them against NATO rather than hide them

well why libyan forces didnot use ths SAM s against nato because shoulder based missilies are having limitied ranges and also libyan armed forces were not organised i am surprised to see that how mr qaddafi has ignored this thing maybe because of sanctions but whatever is the case libyan govt forces didnot showed themselves like the professional army of a country! they were looking despirate and how they could used sams against nato in such a situation and also nato is well planned organization they knew all threat well beyond involvment , this is misery of muslim countries that they dont go for requirement just for there own satisfactions if we look at arsenal of muslims countries we can see just few muslim countries like pak turkey iran saudia arabia are good in preparing themselves compared to other muslim world
maybe we should thank to israel who make them aware of there security to some extend!

Libyan armed forces were organized but what options did they had against NATO firepower?

The rebels were not so organized but NATO assisted them and organized them.

Complicated matter. There are can be several reasons.

1. They were useless against NATO?
2. Due to pressure of NATO strikes, the Libyan forces may have decided to save some stocks for future use?
3. The Libyan forces were denied easy to access to them?
