Li-Fi to replace Wi-Fi in China ?

No, there wasn't a single Chinese Domestic CPU on TianHe-2

Otherwise it will not be competible with the Ivy Bridge the Server is actually using. This is the same you cannot use an AMD processor in an Intel Server.....

Wait, isn't this some kind of Chinese CPU too?

Enter the Dragon: The Chinese superputer set to win the Top500 crown

The Tianhe-2, like its predecessor, is also front-ended by a homegrown Sparc-based cluster. NUDT has created its own variant of the Sparc chip, called the Galaxy FT-1500, which has sixteen cores, runs at 1.8GHz, is etched in 40 nanometer processes, burns around 65 watts, and delivers around 144 gigaflops of double-precision performance. The front-end processor for the Tianhe-2 machine has 4,096 of these processors in its nodes, which gives another 590 teraflops. But, who's counting?

Well done China. I wonder If Indians still think they can catch the Might of China for US?:omghaha:

Every country has their advantage and special, just keep your goal and patience

China has filed a lot of patents during the past decade and these patents are commercialized inventions
We are not different from any other countries with intensive R and D investments, some are aiming at foundamental researches to reveal scientific mysteries, others are more mature and have developed or aim to develop into commercial applications like TD-LTE technology, thorium reactors, quantum communications, "invisible cloak" technology, Flu vaccines, stem cells researches, the lightest material ..etc

In respect of the application of our supercomputers and its components, read this thread which sheds lights on your doubt! We are not an advertising agency nor the supercomputer makers a multi-media / electrical appliance org which keep promoting its products

I read it, the computer is not no.1 as it been boasting to be.

The patents, the U.S. is number one and second is Japan. What really count is how popular, important and breakthrough that patent is. U.S. has more than double the patents of China, but you do not see they boast about any of these when the patents/ inventions are not ready to commercialize.

What I see with Chinese is different, there a lot of articles tend to exaggerator of their inventions even though their inventions have not been put in practical use yet.

For example, Smart phone from U.S., is consider one of the most useful invention in this century.

Lifi, there is long way it will be put in practical use, and no guarantee it will replace Wifi like it been boasting. It is good if China invent something but exaggerate and associate with extreme nationalism is not a Go.

I understand the Chinese wanted the western world to recognize it, instead of looking down and laugh on it, but boasting and exaggerating aint the way to earn respect and recognition.

Tianhe II wasnt installed with domestic CPUs but it was installed with other domestic components like the connectors. Why do you have to repeat the same diatribes again. It is just silly.

We are developing our domestic CPUs and some of which have been installed in supercomputers. Read post 25.

We do not say our patent counts exceed those of USA or Japan. Do you have the source we claim we are no 1 in this area?

you are just as diabolical as the other silly forumers on PDF. We are here to report the works of our scientists in this new and scientific discovery.

Where is the boasting at and about? where is the nationalism when we are not shying away from claiming it is an achievement, yes from China and by Chinese scientists!

Where did it say it has now been commercialized!

I understand the Chinese wanted the western world to recognize it, instead of looking down and laugh on it, but boasting and exaggerating aint the way to earn respect and recognition.

you are being silly again.

Any scientific finding will find their recognition on appropriate platforms, like academic journals, conferences, academic talks and awards; and the applicatons of them on improving quality of lives!

It is, and it isn't

Technically, FT-1500 is a processor, but it's a sparc chip, not a central processor
If you call a sparc chip a CPU, then you need to call all APU/PowerPC chip and etc CPU

Sparc chip is an IU, and a FPU

SPARC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tianhe-1A (TOP500 #8 as of November 2012[22]) has a number of nodes with FeiTeng-1000 SPARC-based processors developed in China (based on OpenSPARC). However, those processors did not contribute to the LINPACK score.[24][25]

Tianhe II wasnt installed with domestic CPUs but it was installed with other domestic components like the connectors. Why do you have to repeat the same diatribes again. It is just silly.

Sparc is not CPU, it's a APU, IU or FPU...
And do I have to explain the international standard again...

you dont need to explain anything here and trying to run your customary melee of your rants against us in silly ways.
You were knocked down on the components of Tianhe 2 completely (see the quote to my posting above) and failed in you smearing campaign, yet again, miserably!
Just chill out!

Actually I stand corrected, FT1500 is actually not Chinese production at all, indeed they were made in china but FT1500 is a sparc chip that have register trademarked by Sun microprocessor

Would you call an chinese made intel trademarked ivy bridge processor a Chinese processor??

the scientists have already mentioned briefly of the pros and cons of Li-fi and its prospect. Some prototypes have been made out of the lab.

read post 25 and I repeat we did not claim Tianhe 2 were using domestic CPUs but intel. Some other components did install with domestic chips

Now get the hell outta here!

Dude, you had answered your question yourselves

If the processor is not on the processing unit and is in some other thing, then can you still call it CPU?

Then again, did I say tianhe-2 does not have Chinese chip or Chinese component? NO

This is what I said originally

Look more like you want to run a smear campaign on me.

Now GTFO

YOU ARE JUST SILLY

Where did I say Tianhe 2 is installed with domestic CPUs?

if you are complaining about our some other chips which are not domestically made as claimed, then the onus is on the complaining manufacturers on us!

Get the fvck out of here!

GTFO again. You dont even know the basic functions of the processors working in a computer and pretend as an expert, as usual! You were thinking all chips are functioning as CPUs (refer to your own silliness through my quote per my post above) This is not the first time you are doing these melees on PDF!

I have no interest in you per se. not worth a rat arse of it.
You are just acting silly and particularly against us with dirty grudges all the fogging time!

Excellent technological discovery for a soo called 3rd country (I think China is almost a developed country). However I see the speed may get bigger when they go micro with the technology, as WiFi's increasing through micro. But, I don't think they can block the light as the light is the source of the connectivity and hence the technology will be overshadowed by WiFi all the time. People making claims that it will change how connectivity will be in the future are either Nostradamus or very simple.

Unless this problem is solved, Li-fi is not going anywhere

Also, for speed concern, the latest 802.11ac gave 1.3Gbps vs Li-Fi's 150Mbps

Li-Fi need to solve these 2 problem before implementation

First second or third world has no bearing to the scientific works. If it is from China it is from China; or if if is from Pakistan then credit to the Pakistani scientists. Credit when due.

The vid (through the scientists) never said the tech is going to replace wifi but it is offering a good alternative to wifi connection

Get it?

'New technology' ? Information travelling by light ? Hmmm... sort of like fiber optics ? The stuff Verizon has wired through half the U.S. already ?
