What's new

Letters : HAL replies to Ajai Shukla’s columns

production reduces per unit cost. And we are producing good number of them. So cost should same as Russia.
Are you sure about Royality thing ??? I think we purchase the licences. So that's it. Nothing more.

If u count all the FLANKER variants built till now (su-27/30/33/34/35) than Russia has experience of making close to 1000 ac (export/RuAF), no wonder there production line is strimelined now, thus there cost/ac is less. Compared to that how many has HAL made it till now - 119 su-30MKIs, simply put it's like comparing the cost of petrol in KSA to that of India.

+ U may call it licensing fee or royalty it's one & the same thing, we have to pay it for each ac produced by HAL.

that's wrong. HAL definatly need to do a good PR exercise. Not for some idiots but to keep its name good in country and aboard. Forget Ajay I don't think his opinion matter anywhere. I want HAL to do a press confference just to clear their side to general public. Relping to his blog hasn't produce anything but they increase his value for no reason. Just see how this Moran will use this to propaganda.

PR exercise doesn't give credibility to an organisation, it's products does & there capabilities, u have the best example in this respect - MMRCA deal, from F-16 to Gripen, From ET to F-18, all were doing a PR exercise instead on focusing on there PRODUCT, in the end that company won which IMO was very less into PR & more into it's product.

+ I agree HAL has committed a blunder by replying to Ajai.

PR doesn't give credibility agree. But it definatly increase awareness. And I think what happen through MMRCA was marketing than PR. and you are forgetting Rafale was OUT OF competion. It getting back was a part of PR from French :D and successful PR i will say.

There should be timely arrangement for all PSUs to make their work and achievements PUBLIC ( which they can ) it will help to boost their own confidence and increase the accountability. On other hand people will come to know there work. It will cause more willing and capable work force to attract to these fields.
In india Public awareness about defence is a total mess. I bet you8 of 10 won't be able to tell you who won MMRCA. Or what's Vikidi.

It was never out of the competition (confirmed by the IAF Chief and MoD officially) and actually that might have been a PR trick from our side to put pressure on the French. Also when you look at the PR and marketing tricks during the competition, the French moved actually very low under the radar of the public. No apperance on Aero India, no big advertisements, in the early years like other vendors did and many people thought that alone would be enough for the Rafale to not be shortlisted. At the end the French and the fighter scored with capability over claims and even won, but MMRCA but have been an exception for fighter competitions, since normally politics play a bigger role.
