Asalam Alikum, guys

We will track here the PROGRESS of much famed Karachi Package of Rs 1.1 trillion.

We will soon come to know whether it is just a lollipop given to Karachiites or a sincere well articulated effort which would translate onto ground.

And I am a PTI voter

So, post it here, guys.

Fukin Credibility is at stake.

10-member committee formed to implement Karachi package

September 17, 2020

A 10-member Provincial Coordination & Implementation Committee (PCIC) has been constituted with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah as its chairman to steer the affairs related to the recently announced historic Rs1.1 trillion special development package for Karachi.

The announcement of forming the committee was made through a notification dated September 15 that was issued by the chief secretary, who is also a member of the committee. The chairman of the Planning & Development Board of the Sindh Planning & Development Department is the committee’s secretary.

Other committee members are a representative of the Pakistan Army’s V Corps, the city commissioner, the city administrator, a representative of the National Disaster Management Authority, a representative of the federal government, the local government secretary and the transport & mass transit secretary.

The committee’s terms of reference include planning of the development projects to be implemented by the respective government authorities under the chairmanship of the province’s chief executive.

The committee will also serve as a forum for resolving impediments in the smooth implementation of projects as well as act as a central forum for coordination among all the stakeholders. The committee will ensure the implementation of the laid down timelines and carry out regular adjustments in the implementation of development projects in the city.

It will maintain the record of all projects and take the required actions to ensure due diligence and quality control. It will also monitor development works of executing organisations and facilitate execution by synergising public and private sectors.

The committee will recommend changes in organisation and executing agencies for effective progress of work. It will conduct projections of on-ground development through the media. It will also closely coordinate with law enforcement agencies to ensure their availability, whenever required, for smooth progress of projects.

The committee will carry out liaison with the relevant departments for priority of work, dispute of resolutions, etc. It will meet regularly — at least once a fortnight — to review progress and discuss future plans regarding the city’s development.

The notification quoted the chief secretary as saying that all the relevant agencies and institutions should nominate their representatives for the PCIC immediately, ordering the officials to assist the committee as and when required.

Announcing the Rs1.1 trillion development package for Karachi on September 5, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that a PCIC would be formed comprising every relevant stakeholder to clear all the obstacles to ensure the implementation of all development projects included in the package in a timely manner.

The PM had admitted on the occasion that different land-owning agencies were operating in Karachi, and that it had been difficult to work for the city’s development under a unified strategy. He said the PCIC would ensure that the federal and Sindh governments were able to work for the development of the city without any issue of jurisdiction or land control.

PTI's electoral future in Karachi depends on this.

Expect very low turnout in 2023 if PTI does not live up to promises. I'm myself a two time PTI voter and may refrain if things don't improve.

However, then there is a part of me which thinks if we don't turn out then waderas of PPP or target killers of MQM will benefit. Also if PTI manage to resurrect the national economy even if Karachi promises are not completely fulfilled then I'll vote for them because when economy starts running then Karachi automatically benefits. However, economy can't run without Karachi being on her feet - so it's a chicken and egg situation.

Asad Umar did announce today formation of a committee headed by Najeeb Haroon to coordinate all facets of the KTP with the different ministries.

I think Sindh government also announced commencement of Malir Expressway and Yellow Line BRT in this year. I take anything they say with a barrel of salt but this time I feel establishment danda is there so you never know they might work.

PTI and Asad Umar should fully focus on KCR, K4, solid waste management and storm drainage. Fulfill this and gain 15-20 seats in the next elections.

I remember a PTI nara in Karachi during 2018:

'Pani nahi nalkay mein
Soch kay ana halkay mein'

I hope the same nara doesn't come back to bite them hard...

1.1 trillion package maybe useless if it is not implemented on time, as we already know the situation of Karachi BRT, it is highly expected that 1.1 trillion wont be paid and even if it is paid, will be done in such a manner that its worth will be next to zero.

Bogies can be brought but then who would reconstruct the infrastructure needed for it to be properly functional?, KCR passes through my locality and its track has been buried under tons of sewerage dumping and garbage, its safe to say that KCR wont be revived anytime in forseable future. Any gimick will only serve as an eyewash and garbage packaged as a functional machinery.

This also seems like recycled 50 year old Pakistan railway bogies, have you seem lahore metro rail bogies?

So where did they house all the poor people tricked into buying illegal land from the government?

I assume you have no interest in plight of these people and most probably blame them and would rather ignore the problem?

sadly i also voted PTI but next time i will not repeat same mistake it is becoming almost imposible to defend PTI in public because they are failed to deliver anything 2 years have been gone most of commodities prices are out of control .. latest shame in the club is increase of prices of life saving drugs ... so if someone is dreaming about betterment of karachi through PTI then wakeup they ain't gonna deliver those dreams... their MPA and MNAs are well aware that it is a one time joy ride that is why you wont see them in public there is a complete disconnection between them and public i wonder how these people sleep peacfully at night after breaking many hearts and hopes
