Lets regulate our Mosque sermons like UAE - Dr Ghamidi

How so? Setting up a collection of Masjid Al-Dirars is equivalent to setting up enemy training camps in a city.
If you impose restrictions on their speeches than reaction would come by each and every sect and government could not able to hold such pressure. This is a very sensitive issue and should be handled in conscious way. Steps needed to be taken are

1. Stop any kind of funding from Iran and Saudis to these mosques and madrasas. If completely restricting the funding is an issue than regulate it. The biggest cause of sectarianism in Pakistan is funding of these two countries to sectarian outfits. They are pursuing their own objectives and we are suffering.

2. The role of intelligence agencies in this is very critical. They should keep a strict eye on what these centers are preaching and what are their objectives.

.
Not only the sermons be regulated but the Imams aswel.
Mosques shall have local Imams & not the imported ones from other areas.
There needs to be a frame work on debates about theology.
Glorification of one's own sect or school of thought should stop over Loud speakers.
As long as we don't come hard on Hate speech & incitement of violence, there is no end to religious violence.

I didn't mean stopping preaching. But people hear believe in what an Imam says. And say, an idiot Imam, who doesn't know anything about Islam eg. Mullah Burqa, deliver the friday sermon, you can imagine the discord that could spread. It's a form of Fitnah. We need to ensure that people who actually know about Islam, preach it. Indeed, agencies are important in this.

The Pakistani State may - may - actually have an Islamic duty to regulate prayer leaders. There may be theological/fiqhi authority in support of this. I have recently come across Al-Mawardi (considered by many to be the foremost scholar on Islamic Constitutional Law) again, in his book The Ordinances of the Government he has a chapter dedicated to "(The) Appointment of Prayer Leaders".

Anybody knows what he says? @Zarvan

If not, I'll get back to this in a few weeks when I have access to it.

The idea is good and implementation will need careful monitoring and planning.

Firstly, it will probably need shutting down of all mohalla masjids and reinstitution of the concept of jamia masjid.

Secondly, all xyz sects should be divided into two only: Sunni and Shia - all subdivisions of respective sects should be merged into both.

Thirdly, other minorities should also be controlled by the appointment of their clerics in Awqaf.

Lastly, all sermons should only be on light topics which will cover no prejudice but common knowledge.

People need simple Islam, not overdose.

. . .
Also in UAE any person can go to the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and ask for a copy of the book containing all the Friday sermons for say year 2010.

All the Friday sermons of the previous year are printed in the form of a book and available to the public for review and reference.

Fully agreed State should have full & complete control over all the religious activities
Just check out what the Chinese are doing
Religious extremism is a threat to South Asia & both the major powers if the sub continent should join hands to combat it
Go first control hindu extremism in india

We must regulate and bring reforms in our Madrassa & Mosque system as these are providing the religious ideology to TTP and other elements.
why only madaris?Terrorist mind peoples are also present in universities , NGOs etc Why only Madaris? , for the God sake leave western ghulami.

He is absolutely right. Whats the point in starting religious education at the age of 5. The kids will get brainwashed, stymies free thinking absolutely .
The kids should be started basic sciences first before starting on religion.

.
It will be hard to get all the various sects to agree to government controlling their mosques. Remember Pakistan is also second largest shia country on top of being among the largest sunni countries. Unless each sect either agrees or is forced to oblige this will not work.
