Where do you get this nonsense, did you know that Soviet Union was the one that was responsible for Afghanistans rapid modernization? It was the Soviet Union that built public transportations, roads, tunnels, schools, hospitals, factories, refineries, power plants, ect, ect.
And do you think that it came free, the Soviet Union likely spent billions of its own money on modernizing Afghanistan.
And get some thing strait, it was Pakistan and the US that destabilized Afghanistan. The Afghan government asked for Soviet assistance, it was Pakistan and the US that wanted the Soviet out, and in doing so they trained and funded so called 'freedom fighters' that are today labeled 'insurgence' by the Americans. When the Afghan government fell to the Taliban both the Americans and Pakistan turned a blind eye to what they created, and that was the Taliban.
Don't try to blame your creation on us or take anything away from us.
Soviet economic and technical assistance to Afghanistan got underway in earnest in the mid-1950s during the premiership of Mohammed Daoud. The primary aim was political—to ensure that Afghanistan was friendly and stable—and the underlying economic premise was that Third World countries remained backward because of a lack of capital and the lingering results of colonial exploitation. Development meant building an independent industrial economy from its basic infrastructure up, using foreign aid to compensate for the lack of capital. The resulting industry would in turn generate more capital, which could be used to pay off debts and invest in more industry, thus kickstarting a virtuous circle of economic growth.
this is what you are made to believe- see the link provided by Al Bhatti- i dont want to argue on some thing that is already widely established- proved-
From 1994 onwards Pakistan has been the force behind the Taliban. Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf – then as Chief of Army Staff – was responsible for sending thousands of Pakistanis to fight alongside the Taliban and Bin Laden against the forces of Massoud
In total there were believed to be 28,000 Pakistani nationals
fighting inside Afghanistan. 20,000 were regular Pakistani soldiers either from the Frontier Corps or army and an estimated 8,000 were militants recruited in madrassas filling regular Taliban ranksThe estimated 25,000 Taliban regular force thus comprised more than 8,000 Pakistani nationals.
Human Rights Watch also writes, "Pakistani aircraft assisted with troop rotations of Taliban forces during combat operations in late 2000
"Pakistan appears to be playing a double-game of astonishing magnitude," the report said. The report also linked high-level members of the Pakistani government with the Taliban. It said Asif Ali Zardari, the Pakistani president, met with senior Taliban prisoners in 2010 and promised to release them. Zardari reportedly told the detainees they were only arrested because of American pressure.
Soviet Communism was bound to fail yes Afghanistan did ask the USSR to come in while pleasing a minority in Kabul you alienated most of the population which lived in the rural areas, don't feel bad the vietcong were freedom fighters The USSR supplied them with far more then we supplied the Mujihadeen, Bringing down the USSR was more important at the time, we have no regrets about doing.
Yea and now you are paying a heavy price both economically and with American lives. The US and Pakistan destabilized the Afghan government in favored of warlords and foreign fighters/Mujahideen (now labeled insurgence by American), when the government fell in 1993 the US bolted. What was left was a country left in shambles, a country that was taken over by the Taliban and a country that was a safe haven for Al-Qaeda, and as you are aware Al-Qaeda was the same people that were responsible for thousands of American deaths on 911, and because of this the US spent billions on the war.
If taking down the Soviet Union and making Russia weaker then Poland meant this then I support 100 %, though this decade we understand what went wrong and right, 2014 were leaving Afghanistan which will likely be influenced by Pakistan, China, India, and Central Asia. our mistake was we should have known our enemies our REAL enemies. and might I add even if we didn't support the Muj they would have still fought.
With what rocks? The Mujahideen was getting crushed, it wasn't until the US as well as countless other countries starting recruiting, feeding, training and most importantly arming them. And much of the weapons that the US provided to those fighters is being used against the US. The irony.
If the USA didn't support them then the Saudi's, Pakistan, Indonesia and yes even Israel help supply them
No regrets
If it meant the USSR breaking into 15 pieces and losing the Eastern Europe to NATO I'm completely fine with it and a weakened Russia, BTW how did you like the Yeltsin era ?
Afghanistan was another Battle Ground of superpowers your former country lost, you lost war you lost your pride your honor your dignity into a Broken Alcoholic, Corrupt, Country and yes if it meant this today I support it 100 % then having Nuclear War.
The US was the main supporter, other countries mattered little.
For you,---many don't share your views, I’m sure you wouldn't be so enthusiastic if you were in the WTC when it collapsed. But again---it was worth it right? All the thousands of dead were worth it? The debt was worth it? The main reason the US supported the rebels was to get back at the Soviet union for Vietnam, so don’t act so patriotic.
And you have to be naive to think that Afghanistan caused the Soviet Union to collapse.
How was the Soviet era for Germany?
Your a racist and metaly unstable individual. We lost the war? Afghanistan did not fall to the Taliban until 1993, the Soviet Union left years before that. And don't speak as if you represent what Russians think, we lost our dignity? According to who you?
When the US leaves Iraq and Afghanistan will the US also be considered defeated and at a loss for dignity?
