Lebanon Thanks Iran for Sending Ventilators, PCR Kits for Coronavirus Diagnosis
TEHRAN (FNA)- Lebanon appreciated Iran for supplying the Arab country with ventilators and coronavirus test PCR kits, describing it as an indication of the profound friendly ties between the two countries.
Lebanon received Iran’s package of ventilators and PCR kits on Monday in the presence of Minister of Public Works and Transport Michel Najjar, Foreign Minister Nassif Youssef Hitti and Health Minister Hamad Hassan, the Arabic-language al-Ahd news website reported on Tuesday.
Hassan underlined the importance of the aid cargo, describing it as a message of brotherhood and sincerity by the Islamic Republic.
“We made lots of efforts in the health ministry to attain this equipment via our European partners and international organizations but we could receive a few of them after hard work,” he added.
Hassan said that the ventilators enjoy the same quality as their European counterparts and "receiving them in this sensitive situation is important".
Hitti also appreciated Iran for its assistance to Lebanon, wishing more technological success and health for the Iranian nation.
Najjar, for his part, described the gift as an indicator of Iran’s kindness and brotherhood with Lebanon.
Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari on April 11 inaugurated the production line of PCR kits in Iran.
“This type of kits acts based on analysing the PCR (of patients) test, and a sum of 100,000 kits of this type can be produced each week,” Sattari said at the time.
On the same day, the production line of home-made serological kits for the diagnosis of coronavirus infection was also unveiled.
Sattari said that 2mln sets of this type of kits will be produced in Iran each week.
