Members from all Nationalities in this forum are requested to share with us.....what kind of background of leaders they would prefer who should head their respective nations for the next 5 years with respect to their nations respective political, economic and other scenarios.....also a short reasoning would be appreciated...

Accordin to me an Economist (as is the case currently) should head the Indian Governement for the next couple of years as currently given the growth, .....capitalising on it is very important.....But I would prefer P Chidambaram who has taken Security Issues of the nation very seriously and he also happens to be a brilliant economist.

I would say that someone like Hu Jintao has the perfect credentials to lead China. He came from a poor family in the countryside, so he understands the bai xing (common people).

He is also an Engineer, which I think is the best profession when it comes to leading a country like China. What China needs now, is someone who can "build" the country up.

Wen is a geologist with a master's degree. Our vice president, Xi Jinping, has a B.S. in chemical engineering. Our vice premier, Li Keqiang, has a PhD in Economics, just like Singh.

india should not follow economists. economists in india have made a cold calculation that by reducing the population "naturally" while simultaneously developing services, the GDP/capita of india will soar. it has worked, but with several serious flaws.

@Chinese_dragon- You know leaders of an impoverished upbringing have been more empathetic than anyone I can see, I have great respect for Hu Jintao and am awed by the influence he commands all over the world. And yeah leaders from Science backgound can implement their expertise in improving lives of their nationals. In India, Nandan Nilekani who is currently the Chairman of UIDAI is a potential leader.

I agree with you below_freezing to some extent about the flaws with Economic forecasting but please understand that these flaws will appear and eventually the leaders would learn from their mistakes, India is by conservative estimates is at least 15 years behind China to learn from its experiences, the Economic Policy has to be of utmost importance given that we have to improve in terms of poverty and whatever the poverty figures may be but there is also a hidden fact that the reformed Economic policies have helped almost 200 million to come out of the same poverty since last 20 years, so my point being it will take time..

I just don't want to see the day the majority of China's politicians are former lawyers like the US is right now.

a religious and educated leader that is not a hypocrite.

Oh yeah thanks for reminding me. Leader needs to be areligious. He is free to have his private beliefs but it absolutely has to have no impact on his decision making.
