The indians make turds of their projects by overthinking them

They let their delusions of self grandeur effect their projects and then end up buying foreign maal, incorporating high percentages of foreign components into "indigenous" weapons or trying to JV with foreign nations to fix the problems of indigenous maal

They then have to buy f16s/grippens, Russian tanks etc to do the job the home made crap cant do but which is inducted in nominal numbers for ego and propaganda

Yes after AESA, HMD block 111 will be 5 th generation. And Tejas with American Engine Israeli avionics, Russian Israeli missiles MKI is 2nd generation. And with AESA radar EW MK2 will be 2.5 generation

It's actually a 2nd gen aircraft
