This russian gun is very powerful and fires bery heavy round. Even one round can damage the enemy plane seriously.

In today's world, does gun really have a role? It would just increase weight of a small fighter.

Not for this test,Tejas will carry 220 rounds or less, and thats enough
Thanks.
Can you explain more on why that is sufficient. I find the whole effort of adding the gun to an aircraft waste of time if all you have is around 4 seconds of fire power.

Firstly, the guns can be fired at various rates of fire, and are rarely fired at their maximum rate of fire. Firing at such rates of fire will create enough vibration to often get the gun sights out of calibration.

The guns are fired at lower rates of fire and each of these rounds are more powerful than a hand grenade.

So,the bottomline is that,220 rounds are sufficient because:
1. Firing more rounds aren't required-Tejas isn't a dedicated Ground Attack Aircraft like the A-10.
2. Firing more rounds at high rate of fire will put the gun sights out of calibration
3. The current number of rounds packs enough punch. A single burst can bring down an aircraft

Are the bullets for ground attack or air attack
Is it a cheap way of bring down drones etc ?
