In today's world, does gun really have a role? It would just increase weight of a small fighter.This russian gun is very powerful and fires bery heavy round. Even one round can damage the enemy plane seriously.

Firstly,the guns can be fired at various rates of fire,and are rarely fired at their maximum rate of fire. Firing at such rates of fire will create enough vibration to often get the gun sights out of calibration.Thanks.
Can you explain more on why that is sufficient. I find the whole effort of adding the gun to an aircraft waste of time if all you have is around 4 seconds of fire power.
