LCA-Tejas LSP-7 (KH-2017) seen firing Derby BVR

LCA-Tejas LSP-7 (KH-2017) successfully fired an Israeli supplied Derby Beyond Visual Range Air-Air Missile (BVRAAM) today off the western coast of India after taking off from the Naval Base ” INS Hansa ” Situated at Dabolim in Goa .

With this Successful trial of Derby BVRAAM, LCA-Tejas has completed one of the key Milestone required before it is granted Final Operational Clearance (FOC) by end of June this year.

Today’s BVRAAM trials stressed on achieving expanded flight envelope which was successfully demonstrated. This is also last of the Derby BVRAAM trials and now Integration and trials are officially over and cleared for use in operational situation . LCA-Tejas Team is currently gearing up to demonstrate In-flight Aerial Refueling capabilities in next few days which is also required before FOC can be granted.

Hopefully India could build a better plane next time.

Failures should be taken as stepping stones of success.

Tejas is too little and too late.

India should now focus on LCA MK2. Hope fully MK2 would meet IAF requirements.

Where were you long time Tejas will be good for over all eco system for future fighter aircraft development

Yet another milestone

I have been hearing about tejas milestones for decades

if you add up all the milestones tejas has you could go around the world which frankly is more than tejas can do

Tejas can't even fly for an hour.

This isn't the first time Tejas has fired Derby.
But this launch marks the Full Operational Capability of the missile, one of the final steps towards FOC of the aircraft.

I know it's hard to understand for those who're from places where aircrafts enter full service without any sort of capability and everything is perfected and inducted with one single launch.

After all this humilation ,embarrasment ,intimidation ,mocking ,finally our ADA &HAL achieved the impossible .
The Tejas is going to be our aerospace industries crown jewel.Of Course ,it faced a lots of troubles, sanctions even lobbying from inside .
But now we have our own fighter .
This small aircraft gave us invaluable experience ,knowledge ,challenges .
So much that now IAF only complaint is production rate .
The experience what we have earned from this will be the founding stone of our next series,AMCA and possibly other aircraft segments
