What's new

LCA MK2 a disaster waiting to happen!

The sources suggest same.

The Mk 2 will see problems with current Mk 1 ironed out.

But the evolution will not stop and I think that Mk 3 will be a reality

I really doubt that. Just for the sake of naming things one can even conjure up a Mk.16 too. But it will and should end at Mk.2.
Then it will be time to move on and create a new aircraft.

That is very much possible even IAF/HAL wants to do something like a cross between a single engined Stealth & predator/reaper kind based on LCA platform

That will not be the same aircraft then, and be sure that it'll not even look like this.

thats very much possible i guess so called UCAV 'ARUA' is something like that there can be many similarities :azn:

Correct on that count. Mk.3 might come about for the sake of semantics but the evolution of the aircraft in terms of design changes will AND must stop at Mk.2. There is only as much as can be squeezed out from the Tejas's basic design after which one enters the realm of diminishing returns.

At least that other article, albeit a bit pessimistic, did highlight some aspects that have been known for some time now but not acknowledged. The primary issue with the Mk.1 has always been the absence of the OBOGS and the poor inlet design which limits the engine performance. IF the inlet optimization had been carried out then things would have gone along MUCH smoother. At the moment though certain things hang on the precipice.

Explain this; with photos if possible.

Man I am not an expert but I wold explain you what I have read from some highly knowledgeable Guys's discussion on various forum.

LCA MK 2 aerodynamic study has revealed the optimum length about 14.7 M. Precisely 56 inch long. The study further reveal that arrow Delta wings will be more suitable for plane. So ideally fuselage should have been extended by 56 inches but that would result in almost new plane requiring lots of testing. So ADA decided to prolonged fuselage by about 20 inches to avoid rigorous testing. So LCA MK2 will not fully exploit the potential of LCA design and its large wings. Increased length will be used to store more fuel. There will be a marginal increase in cross section also. That will facilitate rearrangement of Inside stuff. There will be 400 kg to 500 Kg weight reduction. Not more than 98 KN power is required for light plane. So 98 KN engine chosen though it is capable to deliver 108 KN power. Its G limit will be increased to 9.5 g in MK2. It will have refined aerodynamics with powerful engine likely to give it an awesome performance including Super cruise capability. It will be able to carry a weight of over 5.5 tons. A more advance composite is also developed which will have a very high strength. Increase in length will be used partly by a slightly long engine and partly by fuel tank. Additional fuel shall give Tejas a long range.

if i have my say on iot i will love to see intakes like Rafale + levcons like FGFA & conformoul feul tanks like F16 Sufa on it with an israeli latest gen ASEA and mix of israeli/American AAs & HRAMs & stand off wepons on it and just might something like stormshadow underneath aswell :D

Dude I mean organisational changes and NOT the changes in design. You don't have to be the PM to change air intakes  just kidding.

You don't bet too much stake on MK100, just scrape the LCA before it become tragedy.

Your comment gives me an Impression that LCA is heading in right direction.

By the way we wish China to produce more and more J15 and J31.

Yehoo....look who is talking ,Developer ''Flopping Fish'' J15
The Flyng Shark calling it a “flopping fish”, the recent tests with heavy weapons have limited the attack range of the J-15 to a distance of 120 kilometers from the carrier: whilst it is said to be capable to carry 12 tons of weapons, when the aircraft is fully loaded with fuel, it can’t carry more than 2 tons of missiles and munitions, meaning that only two YJ-83K anti-ship missiles and two PL-8 air-to-air missiles could be carried (in an anti-ship configuration)

While the tragedy struck LCA with weight 2.5 times less than Flopping fish carries 3.2 ton of armament with range of 400Km :omghaha: Now Go back to your cave Son...

.
How many LCA could Hal produce per year? The most funny point is LCA will be dilapidated before induction.
