She pleaded that her lawyers proceeded with the trial without her consent.

NEW YORK (Dunya News) – Imprisoned in United States (US) state Texas, Doctor Aafia Siddiqui on Monday appealed against her guilty verdict awarded in a jury trial in 2010, Dunya News reported.
Dr Siddiqui pleaded in the appeal that the attorneys representing her carried out entire defence without her consent. She pleaded the guilty verdict be set aside on the grounds of forceful representation saying that the judge had imposed defence attorneys appointed by Pakistani government on her.
Dr Aafia Siddiqui was found guilty of assault and attempted murder and sentenced to 86 years in prison in 2010.
Filing appeal against the verdict in New York Federal Court, she pleaded the verdict be set aside on the grounds of inadequate representation.
She maintained that her lawyers proceeded with the trial without her consent.
She pleaded that her trial and conviction was unfair, adding that it is a grave violation of human rights.
According to a US media, Pakistan government paid $15,00,000 (PKR 15 crore approx) to three lawyers it hired.
