The International North-South Transport Corridor envisions a 7,200 km-long multi-mode network of ship, rail and road for freight transport,
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says the recent incident where a ship blocked the Suez Canal for almost a week highlighted the need for a reliable transit route and the corridor being developed by Iran, Russia and India is best suited to serve that goal.
The International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), proposed by the three countries in 2000 and later supported by 10 Central Asian nations, is connecting the Persian Gulf and India with Russia via Iran.
"We hope that the North-South ITC will eventually serve as the basis for the creation of a single seamless transport, logistics, and economic space stretching from the southern coasts of Iran to northern cities of Russia," Lavrov told IRNA news agency in Tehran.

But it was an all indian crew that blocked the suez.. was it done on purpose by Indians to have world highlight alternates...

.
it also highlights how the Suez, Europe and the Middle East are not important to North Americans.
Let Europe, Africa and Asia deal with it.

All this takes, is 7 billion dollars.
And Russia can help us to achieve it

This is a canal going from Persian Gulf to caspian sea. If we build this canal through the Central desert shown in the first picture it would make it habitable and actually it will revive the dead deserts with 0 population. It will also provide a water way for the ships which can eventually Dock on Astrakhan of Russia. This water way will reduce dependence on suez canal. Number 1 enemy of this plan is USA.

Not to mention that the railway from Chabahar to Moscow is already functional and kicking.

. .
That red arrow towards europe will actually pass through Nakhchivan and then Iğdır city of Turkey, it will connect already existing Kars-Marmaray (Istanbul)-Europe line.

Iran's railway system is already connected to nakhchivan, so this project would strongly connect iran and turkey.

Two canals

1) Canal between Black Sea and Caspian Sea

2) Canal from Caspian Sea to Persian Gulf

There's already a canal between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, built by the Soviet Union. It's called the Volga-Don Canal. So, one may say that the Caspian Sea has earned its name. It's no longer just the largest lake of the world, because it is connected to the Black Sea and hence, the Mediterranean Sea.

Hopefully we will add more and more roads and railways between Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan. The more our countries are linked together, the better it is for our economies and cultural exchanges.

As far as I know, works on ITE are at a standstill. In addition, 25-year contract will expire near future in the gas imports of Turkey. Turkey is making large investments in LNG infrastructure in recent years, creating the impression that the renewal of this contract not in agenda. Also We find it difficult to overcome some problems in freight transportation from both sides, although not very visible as Covid slows economies. The priority of the east-west axis high-speed train in Turkey were given to Kars(Georgia-Azerbaijan / Russia). The process of incorporating Van(connection to Iran) into the newly build main system is constantly getting longer. I think these gaps will be filled by China.

By the way, the Don-Volga Canal is not a huge waterway that can operate with serious capacities as you think. In order to become a trade route from Asia to Europe, Russia needs to make a very serious investment. While Russia is currently investing in the Siberian railway lines, it needs to get serious financial support in order to put canal expansion on its agenda.

It is piloted through the canal by egyptian crew thats what i heard the same with panama canal remember watching a documentry about it

don't think the expenses of unloading containers from massive cargo ships on to trains & reloading them on cargo ships is worth the expense. seems more affordable to make the Suez Canal function more efficiently.

.
This is not a feasible route. They are actually thinking about creating a parallel canal to Suez through israel.

INSTC is being promoted by Russia-Iran-India

China-Pakistan should stay away from INSTC and promote BRI instead.

I love how Iran is at the intersection of all important paths on the map in the first post. <3

Why do you think everyone is so anal about this country ;) wink wink

Any possibility for a PAK-IR-TUR economic corridor to enrich the respective nations? Basically the land corridor between worlds?
