Lashkar terrorists target mobile towers
The Lashkar-e- taiba on Tuesday (July 13) issued a new diktat in Doda, warning the locals. The Lashkar issued a threat letter to villagers in Doda district to destroy mobile towers or face consequences. The reason for the threat this time; Mobile intercepts during the last few months have sounded the death knell for top commanders.
The letter comes after a verbal warnning asking locals to obey the terror group or face the consequences.
An excerpt from the letter reads, " You did not take what we said earlier seriously, that is why this letter is being written. We are warning you that in the future if you do not take us seriously then there will be no mobile towers remaining in the region."
In the last six months intercepts of wireless conversation have helped security agencies pin down eight top commanders.
Earlier this year Abu Osama of Pakistan, a computer savvy Lashkar commander was killed in Doda heights following the interception of his mobile phone conversation with handlers from across the border. Security forces also recovered a number of SIM cards from the terrorist.
On April 4, 2010, mobile phone intercepts helped security forces gun down two Pakistani Lashkar militants in Kalakote area of Rajouri.
The latest threat has prompted the agencies to heighten security as the militants get increasingly desperate.
