Of course he had mental problems, terrorist or not. Clearly, he was homicidal/suicidal, with depression/psychopathy at play here. He probably had narcissistic personality traits as well.

Why are you so focused on him being white? Anyone of any color can commit something like this. I don't think the man is mentally ill, and being mentally ill does not drive one to commit a massacre. There are lots of people with depression and/or anxiety and they are definitely not conducting mass shootings all over the country. PTSD on other hand can be more difficult to deal with. So there probably isn't a political motive but he chose to lash out on people or the Casino or at whatever it may be, by consciousness decision making so he has no excuse.
