Lahore waste management company to help make Amritsar clean

this is a Turkish company actually, its just a publicity stunt of whosoever reported it.

Lahore tou waise ka waisa hi ganda manda hai... not to blame the company but ham logo ko tameez hi nahi hai....

I think this disease actually is of our subcontinent and not one city alone.

the worst part of it all, the drains are not covered, be in the street that has no name, or be it the main ones.... !!

This is something that has to be done well - sanitation is important. Good initiative taken by Amritsar municipal corp.

They must feel Lahore has the same type of challenges as Amritsar!

I dont believe companies like these DONT help Pakistani cities...It is South Asian mentality...baap ki gali hai phenk do!

I mean I recall going to the airport...I think it was Lahore or Islamabad when it was 1st opened...in fact it wasnt even officially opened but we the passengers were taken through it...it was AWESOME....

Then I came back the next year and I was like which airport did we land on?

I know about jet lag....But I dont think I saw that squeakily clean airport in my dreams!!

Talking of cleaning shleaning a friend from Afghanistan just stated that even Kabul is much cleaner than our great homeland Pakistan. Its got to do with our attitude. We throw rubbish anywhere and everywhere, we don't care about cleanliness and are notorious paan-eaters. I say stop chewing paan and start cleaning up.

Also have to say Lahore is much cleaner than Karachi and Islamabad is the cleanest of all cities.

Islamabad has two things in its favour, having low population and having a CDA cleaning department. There is just more awareness in people to not throw garbage everywhere, be it a businessman in tie suit or a shopkeeper...

Lahore has started getting z bit clean in the cantt areas and other adjoining places, liberty, gulberg etc are much cleaner, maybe its got to do with Punjab governments cleanliness drive.

Cant comment on Karachi too much, but from the short visits t the city, I'll say that it has alot to do. Its population also hampers cleanliness.

Seriously ! Is that ? Me, not travelled to the west always thought we in the subcontinent are dirtiest.

With whatever little travels I have had, Singapore is the most clean place ever seen !

Naah...West has their dirty laundry too...they have an efficient cleaning squad that kind of dismisses the dirt!

AMRITSAR: After having failed to successfully run its much hyped solid waste management (SWM) project, the Amritsar Municipal Corporation has now sought help from Lahore Waste Management Company to make the holy city clean.

"We are here to share our experiences with officials of municipal corporations of Punjab and explain how we have been successful in running SWM project in Lahore" said the general manager, Lahore Waste Management Company Wasim Azmal while talking to TOI on Monday.

Wasim along with the general manger and manger of company Khalid Mazid and Asif Iqbal respectively had arrived in India to share their experiences and guide MC officials on SWM project. He said Turkish companies had invested more than 80 million dollars in Lahore and have brought in special vehicles, washers and other specialized machinery for collecting and disposal of waste.

"A similar pattern can be launched here also" said he. Wasim said that the Turkish companies had created a state of art waste disposal facility for the recycling of the waste and its conversion into energy. He informed that the company had given a presentation to the deputy CM of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal during his visit to Pakistan wherein Sukhbir had shown keen interest in the SWM project.

Following Sukhbir's visit a high powered delegation including officials of local body, urban development and municipal commissioners of Bathinda and Ludhiana had visited Lahore.

"Ours is a follow up visit where we will share our experiences of the project and would also try to gain knowledge of running municipal affairs from Indian Municipal Corporation officials" he said. Amritsar Municipal Corporation had signed a MoU with a Mumbai based company for the disposal of waste but the project failed to run successfully.

About the fund scarcity and lack of staff strength among most of the municipal corporations in Punjab, Wasim said, "We also have similar problems, but there is a solution, funds can be raised as had happened in Lahore".

He said the delegates would be visiting Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Chandigarh besides Amritsar

Now these people can clean their own cities:undecided:
and they r dreaming of becoming a super power.

No wonder their country is a dustbin of poverty n rubbish.

We have a lot to help each other with & a lot to learn from each other.

If only we could put the past behind & reconcile to the present.

like yr general said to our journalist that u cant give a place where u r in advantage while talking abt siachin.
So that clears it all that who doesnt want this mentioned by u to practically happen.

Suggest you re visit my post.

I said ' reconcile to the present'.

Implying thereby that we need to accept that what ever is with Pak shall remain that way similarly, what's with India stays.
