KSA announces its success in the production of drones & launch 12 sats

No idea, the people in power are old still busy with the same old bs fighting over battles 1000+ years ago, the old diaspora generation are a bunch of thiefs coming to drink the oil while living in the west except for some whom are not in power for not being corrupt. Country has enough resources see article Republic of Iraq

I’m for larger unification through organizations to develop and form unity but many things stop this, anyway to keep on drones.

Iraq developed target drones a few decades ago which were just used to train crews with air defence missiles and air to air missiles.

Yeah, Iraq is one of the more unlucky histories in the Arab world. Just like Yemen. Once great today fragmented and in turmoil. What is now KSA was also once rich in ancient Semitic civilizations (Dilmun, Great Bahrain region, the Yemeni kingdoms in the South, Hijaz, Levant region, Mesopotamian territories in the North etc.) but went down and rose again after Islam etc. All countries have good and bad periods. Iraq was a country people migrated to and from. For example some of my father's relatives and my ancestors came to Iraq, mixed with locals went elsewhere, returned and came back. All depending on the situation of the region - favorable or not.

Iraq had the fortune to be ruled by the British who implemented a lot of good things and provided opportunities although they were not perfect. But the region has always been hit by turmoil. So big is the turmoil that only 1-5% of the Arab world has been excavated by archaeologists. Iraqi-Saudi Arabian ties are ancient and date all the way back to the first Semitic movements from the Arabian Peninsula to Iraq well over 10.000 years ago and all the way to the modern days. It is a shame that policies between two regional powers who have all the ingredients to accelerate have been hampered - in the case of Iraq by wars and political (sectarian) disagreements. Yemen is another example and is just Iraq volume 2 if you ask me.

Yeah, a little bit off-topic here. Just wanted to hear what other neighbors/fellow Muslim/Arab countries were up to in the UAV industry.

Regarding corruption then this is rampant when there is opportunities for being corrupt and no or very few punishments for it. Iraq is no different than other countries who suffer from similar problems. Nor better or worse.

Saudi Arabia announces its success in the production of drones and launch 12 satellites

Proclaimed King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, it has succeeded in making drones.

The King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, in a statement Sunday, it has succeeded in manufacturing drones kind of average size is capable of flying at a range of up to 150 kilometers, and flight time up to 8 hours, at 120 kilometers per hour, at an altitude of 5,000 meters .

The statement added, that the city has been able to manufacture a small plane size-range flights up to 120 kilometers, and the duration of the flight, ranging between 5 and 6 hours, and at 120 kilometers per hour, at an altitude of 5000 m, in addition to aircraft electrical small flying at an altitude of 1000 m for a period of up to an hour and a half ago.

The city in its statement, too, she succeeded in launching 12 a satellite in space, one of them a special remote sensing, and covers an area of Saudi Arabia, and the Arab region, and large parts of the continents of Europe, Africa, India and Pakistan, stressing that the objectives of these satellites are in the service of development and scientific research in the Kingdom, thus becoming the only Arab country that has been able to achieve localization of this advanced technology in the country.

Great news. Way to go bro. KACST would be the perfect place to start the Turbofan engine and Personal Jet project:

Egypt has experience in assembly in recent years, but Helwan HA-300 was designed in Helwan factory in Egypt by German engineer Willy Messerschmitt for the airframe and Austrian Ferdinand Brandner, an expert on Turbojet engine design:

Indigenous Egypt: Aircraft Made By AOI Aircraft Factory
Posted on May 9, 2013 by hafizuddinsulaiman

The AOI Aircraft Factory was initially established as the Helwan Aircraft Factory in 1950 as part of Egypt’s aspiration to become self reliance in providing military equipment to its armed forces as well as to strive in the aerospace technology.

Throughout its existence, the company had built several types of aircraft and UAV for the Egyptian Air Force including the HA-200 Al-Kahirah subsonic trainer, HA-300 supersonic fighter prototype, Alpha Jet trainer, EMB-312 Tucano turboprop trainer and the K-8E Karakoram jet trainer.

The HA-200 Al-Kahirah subsonic trainer is an Egyptian variant of the Hispano HA-200 Saeta trainer designed by Germany’s fame engineer Willy Messerschmitt. The Helwan Aircraft Factory had built 90 of such aircraft under license.

Willy Messerschmitt would countinue his cooperation with the Egyptian, when he brought his ultra light fighter design in 1959 to Egypt. His fighter design, known as the HA-300 was powered by an Orpheus engine and flew for the first time in 1964. Unfortunately though, the tragic loss of Egyptian military to the Israelis during the Six Days War led to the termination of the project in 1969 as the Government has diverted the budget for the development of such fighter to other pressing defence needs such as procurement of military hardware to replace those destroyed during the war. Ony three of such aircraft were built throughout the period of 5 years.

In 1978, the Arab Organisation for Industralisation (AOI) and Westland Helicopters had established the Arab British Helicopter Company in which the Westland Gazelle and Westland Lynx helicopters were built under license from its facility in Helwan.

In early 1980′s, the Egyptian Government had ordered 30 Alpha Jet MS1 from Dassault. The French aircraft manufacturer supplied four completely built aircraft while the remaining 26 aircraft were assembled by AOI from knockdown kits.

In December 1983, Egypt signed a contract with Embraer of Brazil which saw 10 complete EMB-312 Tucano turboprop trainer to be initially delivered followed by 110 others being assembled by AOI’s Heliopolis Aircraft Work. Of these 80 of such aircraft built locally by AOI were delivered to the IQAF while the rest entered service with the EAF. 14 more aircraft were ordered making total local production of the Tucano to 124.

In 2000, the EAF began to order Hongdu JL-8 for its advance trainer requirement. The Egyptian variant of the aircraft was known as the K-8E. Over 110 were locally built by the AOI.

The Sino-Egypt relationship was further strengthen when the latter bought the ASN-209 UAV. AOI Aircraft Factory was tasked to assemble UAV for the Egyptian Armed Forces. During the first phase of production, the Egyptian had built 6 of such aircraft. As of 2012, it has been reported that the second phase of the UAV local production will see another 12 of such aircraft being built by AOI.

Better to spend the money on watering project or jobs for the Saudis who selling tea on streets instead of giving money to sisi or to terrorists in world wide

Anyone should be able to build a drone now days, you can buy them at Walmart

Don't tell me that Target sells sats too?

Anywho, we have tested others drones ages ago.

Or it would be better to save the starving nation of Iran.

Very good news.

What about Algeria?

Drones were used by the Algerian forces since the 90's. As for domestic or indigenous make, they are several projects ( mostly at the university level) in the works that are promissing but nothing to brag about since none of them reached a flying time beyond 6-10 hours within 250 kms or less operating distance. South African make and Chinese are the one in use.

Here is a video about the UAV if anyone interested.

Thanks for the video bro. I wanted to see inside of KACST and this video shows it, looks like they have some advanced machinery. I wonder what engine the drone is using. Several companies who make small engines for UAV:
Rotron Advanced Rotary Engines for UAV, VTOL & Military Applications
Rotron Four-Stroke Fuel Efficient UAV Rotary Engines
UAV Engines Ltd :: The world's leading supplier of power units for Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) :: New Website Coming Soon

Speaking of UAV/drones, FSA should send this Kamikaze UAV to Assad as a gift:
