Kremlin reveals how it will respond to NATO deployments to Ukraine

.
Some label me troll on this god forsaken forum but they should be lucky that they have me. I saw it playing out this way from the get go and I saw things from a measured perspective I rejected the ideas of the majority russophile which seems to have many russophiles on this forum and generally Russian fans and there are a tiny minority who are Nato-phile or should I say western-phile but I rejected both their ideas and saw things measured and from the conventional playing field.. Some were even saying NATO will fight yada yada which was never realistic and others were claiming Russia will reclaim Ukraine like Taiwan and some even said it would take 2 weeks or less than that which goes to show there are to many layman.. I truly deserve a think tank patch or upgraded to an advisor on this forum @waz whats up brother where is my honoring trophies

I think the place was destined to become another DMZ like in North Korea. The Russians will not remove the troops it has approx 175k on the border and Ukraine has half of it's army deployed in Donbass now around 125k. Sort of like a frozen conflict and this could be the case for 2 or 3 decades atleast before it ignites. Ukraine is growing militarily now and this could lead to a clash down the line come sometime in the 40s or 50s Ukraine will be extremely confident at that point because they will have 30 years to exclusive prepare for their survival so it will be a well prepared Ukraine

Russia cannot 'tolerate' NATO's 'gradual invasion' of Ukraine, Putin spokesman says

Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman said on Sunday that Russia began its military buildup along the Ukrainian border because it could no longer "tolerate" NATO's eastward expansion and "gradual invasion" of Ukraine.

Appearing on CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS," Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the stage for the current border crisis was set decades ago, in the '90s. Roughly 100,000 Russian soldiers have recently amassed near Ukraine, leading to concerns that Russia will invade its neighbor soon.

"When Germany was reunited and when the then-Soviet Union and the Soviet Union leader Mr. [Mikhail] Gorbachev said OK to that, there was a promise by American side," Peskov said on Sunday.

"Unfortunately, not fixed in a juridical, in a legally binding guaranteeing document, but it — there was a guarantee that NATO would never ... expand its military infrastructure or political infrastructure eastwards," he continued.

"Unfortunately, the opposite thing started to happen since then, and NATO's military infrastructure started to get closer and closer to the borders of the Russian Federation," he added, saying that recent actions by the U.S. military led Russia to feel that its national security was being "endangered."

Peskov, a career diplomat and longtime Putin spokesman, accused NATO of being a "weapon of confrontation" rather than a "dove of peace." Russia has demanded a guarantee that Ukraine not become part of NATO, which it says would be a severe threat to its security.

Ukraine has been severely underrated here by many layman hope this serves them good lesson.. Last time Lavrov said 2 days ago they will take actions when the military experts give their opinion and I knew what their opinion was gonna be..

NATO has deterred zero they have technically done the opposed and imo from now on Ukraine will have a bigger say in European affairs including EU and NATO... Ukraine came out looking good in all of this if you ask me.. Ukraine has technically deterred Russia

I’ve been rooting for Ukraine’s ability to deter Russia. In part, because there are many lessons for Pakistan to deter India. But we have to admit NATO’s backing helped Ukraine.

lol.. We have had deterence against the gangus for the last 74 years and if anything they are the once who need deterence against us now..

But that being said I was neutral from beginning to end but I don't think Russia will accept this government bordering them regardless will find ways to liberate that area may not be today but at a later date they won't let this one slide

Russia is getting weaker by the day, due to their demographics. They can hold it together because there is a demand for their energy resources and defense profits and agricultural products, but they have to be carful not to be sanctioned to the point of losing major markets. Their standard of living would take too much of a hit, leading to too much unrest in a Post-Putin era.

Ukraine want to join EU for all the obvious benefits. Russian tanks are not stopping them.

the difference between Ukraine/Russia and India/Pakistan is that Ukraine population has decided EU/NATO is their manifest destiny

What is Russia’s problem with Ukraine?
Ukraine is strategically located. Without a friendly Ukraine, Russia loses its access to Europe AND loses a vital buffer state to the EU and NATO. There is also the issue of Russia's black sea fleet, which is why Russia took Crimea, but it's still not enough, because Turkey can still make things difficult for Russia with Ukraine's help, and that's exactly what Turkey is doing.

Russia is obviously nervous about all of this. Will it invade Ukraine? I doubt it. The Russians don't usually make a big humdrum before they take military action, which is why I think this is nothing more than geopolitical brinkmanship, a game of chicken if you will, to see who blinks first.
