Kratos Successfully Launches New Variant of Aegis Readiness Assessment Vehicle
UNITED STATES - 20 NOVEMBER 2009
SAN DIEGO - - Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading national security, information technology and public safety solutions provider, announced the successful inaugural launch of the Aegis Readiness Assessment Vehicle - C Variant (ARAV-C) by its Rocket Support Services Business Unit (RSS) located in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
The first of its kind launch occurred four minutes into the designated launch window on November 5 from the Pacific Missile Range Facility/Kauai Test Facility and is reported to have achieved all major test objectives. Wayne Montag, RSS' Technical Director said, "We are extremely gratified to see all of our hard work pay off. Our extensive participation in the development of the ARAV-C's separation systems, instrumentation, and vehicle support module structures validates the increase in capability that we have been carefully building in RSS over the past 18 months or so. We have assembled a very talented group of young engineers and technicians who will assure our continuing success well into the foreseeable future."
Dave Carter, Kratos' Executive Vice President of Defense Engineering Solutions stated, "This very successful launch also represents the maiden flight of our new timer system and second stage ignition control module. ARAV-C represents a significant advance in threat surrogate capability which will be increasingly useful to the U.S. Navy and our allies to exercise and validate sea-based Ballistic Missile Defense capabilities. As with our other launches, though, we couldn't achieve this level of success without the continuing partnership with, and cooperation of, the White Sands Missile Range Detachment of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division and the Missile Defense Agency."
Eric DeMarco, Kratos' President and Chief Executive Officer said, "I and the entire Kratos team are proud of the achievements of our RSS professionals in support of this, and other vital missile defense missions. We look forward to continuing to meet or exceed the requirements of our White Sands, Port Hueneme and Missile Defense Agency partners through the on-time/on-budget delivery of mission-capable ARAV systems."
