Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's (KP) 53-strong Special Combat Unit (SCU), awarded the Jaguar insignia, is ready to tackle counter-terrorism operations in the province after rigorous training by the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Navy.

The SCU, KP's largest counter-terrorism unit yet, was raised on the directions of former KP police chief Nasir Khan Durrani and inaugurated by KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on 19th August, 2014.

The force has now completed its training and is conducting mock exercises in Peshawar in order to familiarise itself with different parts of the city.

Equipped with sophisticated weapons, the force's mandate is to handle major crises, such as hostage situations and terrorist attacks on sensitive installations.

The SCU began as a contingent of 150 personnel belonging to the police's Elite Force who were selected on the basis of their performance.

The SCU received nine months of rigorous training from the Special Services Group of the army and the navy in all modern warfare tactics, including para-trooping, heli-repelling and waterborne operations.

The unit was to be equipped with sophisticated weapons, and have at its disposal the quickest possible means of mobility including availability of a standby helicopter facility.

The 'Jaguars' will be available for movement on zero-minute notice, and can be deployed in any part of the province for sting operations, interdictions, counter-terrorism operations, helicopter and airborne operations and amphibious operations both independently and in support of other police units or law enforcement agencies.

Their equipment looks totally obsolete not even comparable with ssu of sindh police.
Those are just training photos , the special services use no optic type 56 for training. In actual deployment all the fancy stuff is given.

Rifles want to see some good Rifles in the Hands of Counter Terrorists Police and better Equipment something like this
Increase of the Police Budget is need of the hour

At 0:23, is that a corner shot type weapon being held by the officer? Also are these officers police or specialist counter terrorism units? What is their strength and pardon my ignorance but KP looks like a very large province, will they be covering the entire province in a RRF specialist intervention capacity or will they be deputed in teams to various divisions of the province?

As for the equipment, I would be interested in finding out what level of protect your body armor and trauma plate offer. The helmet looks a standard Kevlar helmet and judging by the limited images I have seen, the men show very good weapon control and discipline.

Their formation and style of operation reminds me more of the South African Special Task Force and less like a police counter terrorism unit. Great Job for Pakistan, I wonder if they have an embedded EOD capacity, based on the types of risks they would encounter, it would only add capacity!

We do have dedicated EOD in real CT deployments. They are issued better gear. Like 556 rifles and SMGs etc.

Kids don't realize that "Techniques" count not the "looks". Even if they were given exact same equipment as the most modern an dwell equipped force in the world, I am sure stupid Pakistanis would demand that we hire tall and fair skinned people so they look exactly like western forces. What counts is
Intelligence
Planning
Technique
Sincerity
Commitment
Courage
