We need to digitalize the criminal data base and equip police vehicles with an onboard computer that houses that data base for verification on the spot including license plates, nic etc. We need to rewamp patrolling by making pairs of two in sedans instead of the usual party of 5-6 in a toyota pickup. A central radio command can direct backup where ever it is needed. This way police can cover more ground more efficiently and effectively and response time will improve drastically. The investigate cases we must form a regulaized pool of detectives like the yankees. These are some of the police reforms we need that will have widespread effects, 4g helmets are a luxury we cannot afford when we dont even have a proper patrolling network. We must learn to spend our limited funds more wisely.
