Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak told reporters on Tuesday that his provincial government is ready to provide an office to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Khattak said that the KP government, which is led by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), was willing to make any other arrangements if needed for the peace process.

“The federal government is heading in the right direction for peace talks,” he said speaking to media representatives in the Assembly chambers.

When asked, Khattak said he did not know if his name had been suggested as a member of the Taliban negotiations committee.

The chief minister however said that the KP governor and representatives from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) should be included in the committee.

No such proposal under consideration, Senate told

Meanwhile, the federal government informed the upper house of Parliament that no proposal was under consideration to open a political office of the banned militant organisation in Peshawar.

Responding to a call-attention notice, Minister of State for Interior Balighur Rehman told the Senate that the government was pursuing the dialogue process to deal with the issue of terrorism.

He said the government was paying attention to the law and order situation in the tribal areas and taking necessary measures.

The minister of state said terrorists will not be allowed to open up their offices.

Regarding the offer made by a provincial minister of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to the Taliban to establish their office in Peshawar, Rehman said neither such proposal was under consideration nor a formal request in this regard has been received by the federal government.

The opposition did not find the answer of the state minister satisfactory and staged a walkout from the House in protest over the offer made to the Taliban by the KP provincial minister.

The Senate session was subsequently prorogued after completion of the parliamentary year.—Mateen Haider

Clearly PTI is not getting its message across, PTI saying taliban to have office, meaningthereby, official representation for negotiations, while the federal govt of pmln is playing politics by calling it a political office...

this goes as cheap politics by pmln !

Taliban Khan wants to give terrorists an office to legitimize them.

Giving them an office.. be it for negotiations, politics or delivery of water bottles.. gives them a legitimate role as an organization that the Pakistan government does not consider hostile...or rather the KP government. I would not be surprised if the KP government next wants to give an office to the BLA.

.
Opening an office for the banned TTP does not make any sense, since they dont have any political wing, it remains to be seen how sincere the TTP is, and how the negotioations will pan out.

TTP appears very difficult to beat because it engages in guerrilla warfare. Having a recognized office would make them organized, and then it will be be much easier to fight them. Another benefit of having a TTP office in the area will be that it'll be much easier to communicate with them directly, and bring their real face to the commoners of the area. That way, whenever they appear to be going against the ideology of Islam, they will not be able to hide behind silence and people can easily see their real faces.

This will only help reduce their popularity whenever the commoners are hurt by their actions.

You should welcome this move from Imran Khan.

No, they would be at the mercy of "you-know-who" in peshawer

if the provincial govt, & fedrl govt are sheltring them, giving them whatever they want, no one be able to do that, & why "who know you" may distrub this foolish dreams of the croupt & jew puppets?
