LANDIKOTAL: Khyber Pakhtun-khwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan is likely to visit Tirah Maidan area today and announce a development package of Rs3 billion for the development work in Tirah valley, official sources said on Monday.
A senior Khyber Agency administration official, requesting anonymity, confirmed the governor’s visit to Tirah and said it was rescheduled after a two-week delay.He said due to security concerns Sardar Mehtab had to postpone his Tirah visit, which was to take place on May 29.
The official told The News that the governor would announce Rs3 billion package for reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure such as roads, health and educational institutions in the remote but beautiful Tirah valley.
Sardar Mehtab will also meet the elders of Tirah Maidan and will hear their suggestions, demands and needs. He is also expected to inaugurate the first-ever Tirah tehsil office, NADRA Swift Centre and the Governor Model School in Kuz Bagh area of Tirah Maidan valley.
A day ahead of the governor’s visit, Khyber Agency’s Political Agent Syed Shahab Ali Shah, Assistant Political Agent Bara, Nasir Khan along the contingents of Khassadar and Levies forces and a group of reporters reached Tirah Maidan to monitor the security and other preparations for the VVIP visit.Khyber Agency’s political administration had spent Rs5 million on arrangements for the governor’s Tirah visit on May 29, but it was postponed at the eleventh hour.
