I looked through some quantitative data the past few days. I think it's just this guy, and not most Koreans. I actually think he's a Taiwanese independence guy pretending to be Korean. He apparently can read Chinese, but can't read Korean.

no offence to Koreans, but Kpop is the absolute gutter of culture.
It is manufactured in soulless factories where even the singers only make about 20k a year.
And the whole point is to make ajoshis (old Korean men) get rich.

The biggest impact it has had on Korean society is that now 13 year old girls are dancing like sippers and singing lyrics like "When I grow up I want big tits"

And the music isn't even that good, it all sounds the same.

This is what I've been suspecting as well after noticing that the JayAtl theory doesn't exactly match up to his posting habits. Korean is way too pro-Japan. Also, his English prose style kinda has a Chinese tilt.

I actually know some Koreans, from Korea, born and raised in Seoul, so I asked them are there any guys in Korea that think like he does. They said straight up "this guy is not a typical Korean". Then I noticed that he rarely posts in Korean, and when he does its from easily found government sources.

However, he finds the most obscure Chinese sources. That got me suspicious. Then I looked at quantitative data about public opinion in East Asia, thought about how I got along with real Koreans, and came to the conclusion: he's Taiwanese. His English is too good to be Japanese, the only other group that could be this hostile.

This news relates to what Japanese rightwingers describe as Korea's Cultural Imperialism against Japan, that a bunch of Korean singers sweep 70~80% of Japan's concert revenue(Typical Korean singers sell 100K tickets, but 600K was eye-popping), and destroy Japan's unique culture in the process by depriving Japanese musicians the revenue and the stage slot.

The same kind of Cultural Imperialism that Hu Jintao claimed the West was waging against China in order to weaken and enslave Chinese mind, the same kind that took Japanese rightwingers to the street to protest.

Of course this doesn't concern China, as China is a victim itself and harms no one culturally.

I don't think it is a wise idea for Korean to speak of culture. If you are truely in US, ask around Americans what culture South Korea has. Can they think of Korea by anything you mention? Well, cheap cars don't count. Honestly, as a fellow Asian, I myself don't even have a clue what culture South Korea has. I only knew the nobel class used to speak and write in Chinese and share common taste with Chinese people.

It is a major victory because the rise of K-pop in Japan hurts Japanese musicians who must compete for same yen to make a living, and when the Japanese musicians are hurt by Koreans sucking up 70% of concert revenue in Japan. Without the money, Japan's music industry declines.

When Koreans want to get even with Japan, Koreans actually go out and hurt Japanese industries, be it music, drama, or electronics. As for Chinese, they rant about how evil Japanese killed millions of Chinese, yet does nothing to get even with Japan by hurting Japan.
